    Abstract: To obtain an arrangement with relatively high pressure tightness, in a short-arc super-high pressure mercury lamp (1) which is operated with an extremely high mercury vapour pressure, a light emitting part (2) has a pair of opposed electrodes (6,7) and is filled with at least 0.15 mg/mm 3 of mercury and side tube parts (3) extend from opposite sides of the light emitting part (2), in which the electrodes (6,7) are partially hermetically sealed and are each welded to a respective metal foil (8), in the areas in which the electrodes (6,7) are welded to the metal foils (8), the electrodes (6,7) being deformed in the direction perpendicular to the metal foils (8) to a degree of deformation that is at most 10%.

    Abstract: Sealing body for a discharge lamp which consists of a functional gradient material in which one side is rich in a dielectric component and the other side is rich in an electrically conductive component, and which is sealed by a side tube which is connected to the arc tube of the discharge lamp and by its areas which are rich in a dielectric component, characterized in that in this sealing body an upholding part of an electrode with a tip provided with an electrode is shrink-fitted, and that furthermore on the outer peripheral surfaces of the areas of the sealing body which are rich in dielectric component, surfaces are formed which run obliquely with respect to the center axis of the above described discharge lamp, so that the maximum width of the end face of the sealing body on the side of the emission space becomes smaller than the maximum width in one direction perpendicular to the axis of the sealing body and becomes greater than the diameter of the upholding part of the electrode.

    Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a bulb being less broken at a weld sealing end of a tube in a sealing process of an electric discharge lamp or an incandescent electric bulb or the like and in an assembling and fabricating process following the sealing process and a bulb using it. SOLUTION: This bulb sealing body 4 for sealing a tube 3 continuously provided at a light emitting tube 2 of a bulb, consists of a substantially columnar tilt function material formed of a conductive part 41 and an insulation part 40, and forms a groove part on an outer periphery successively to an outer end of a weld sealed part. Alternatively, a step is provided on the outer periphery so that an outer diameter of a part from the outer end of the welded sealing part outwardly is smaller than the outer diameter of the weld sealed part. Further, this sealing body 4 is used for a bulb.
