A photoreceptor with a substrate, a charge generating layer, a charge transport layer including N,N,N',N'-tetra(4-methylphenyl)-(1,1'-biphenyl)-4,4'-diamine, having a purity of from about 95 percent to about 100 percent, and a protective overcoating layer, optionally including a hole transport material other than N,N,N',N'-tetra (4--methylphenyl)-(1,1'-biphenyl)-4,4'-diamine, that will discharge from about 85% to about 100% of its surface potential in from 0 to about 40 milliseconds upon being subjected to xerographic charging and exposure to radiant energy of from about 1 erg/cm2 to about 5 ergs/cm2.

Forming a 4-aminobiphenyl derivative arylamine compound, includes (i) providing a first disubstituted 4-aminobiphenyl compound; (ii) optionally formylating the first disubstituted 4-aminobiphenyl compound to form a bisformyl substituted compound where the first disubstituted 4-aminobiphenyl compound is not a bisformyl substituted compound; (iii) acidifying the bisformyl substituted compound to convert formyl functional groups into acid functional groups to form an acidified compound; and (iv) hydrogenating the acidified compound to saturate at least one unsaturated double bonds in the acidified compound.

Abstract:
Silicon-containing layers for electrophotographic photoreceptors which ha ve high mechanical strength, improved electrophotographic characteristics and improved image deletion characteristics even under conditions of high temperature and high humidity are provided. Such silicon-containing layers include silicon- containing compounds, which may be crosslinked, and siloxane-containing antioxidants th at can be selected from hindered phenol antioxidants, hindered amine antioxidants, thioether antioxidants and phosphite antioxidants. Electrophotographic photoreceptors and electrophotographic imaging apparatuses containing such silicon-containing layers are also provided.

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a new method in which arylamines can be continuously produced using Buchwald reactions even in a large-scale production. SOLUTION: The method of producing arylamine compound includes reacting an amine compound with an arylhalide compound in a continuous plug flow reactor in the presence of a base and a palladium catalyst having a ligand so that an arylamine compound can be produced. PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an improved image forming member for providing improved image forming performance and a longer operating life. SOLUTION: An ink set contains at least one fluorescent phase change ink containing at least one fluorescent material, and when the ink set is exposed to activation energy, the fluorescent material emits fluorescence and causes an observable change to the appearance of the ink. PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a photoconductor having excellent wear resistance and a long operating life. SOLUTION: The photoconductor sequentially includes a substrate, a photogenerating layer, at least one charge transport layer comprised of at least one charge transport component, and an overcoating layer in contact with and contiguous to the top charge transport layer, wherein the overcoating layer is comprised of a mixture of a charge transport component, a crosslinking component, and at least one hydroxyl containing polymer. The coating is formed by applying a composition that contains a mixture of an alkyl alcohol, a glycol monoether, a crosslinking component, a charge transport component, and at least one of (i) a polyester and (ii) an acrylated polyol in the presence of an organic acid catalyst. PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To realize a potential of a blue laser-based electrophotographic copying engine to increase printing resolution.SOLUTION: A photoconductive member comprises a conductive support, a charge generating layer disposed thereon, and a charge transport layer. The charge generating layer comprises a first polymer binder and a perylene-tetracarbonic acid amide pigment having blue wavelength photosensitivity of the specified formula. The charge transport layer is disposed on the conductive support and comprises tri-p-tolylamine and 1,1-bis(N,N-ditolyl-4-aminophenyl)cyclohexane in a second polymer binder.
