A device for coating substrates has a capillary slot which is used in a first step to apply lacquer to the substrate. In a second step, the lacquer layer thickness of the substrate is reduced and made more uniform by spinning in a spinning device.

A device for coating a plate has an open channel being open in an upward direction and a device for supplying a liquid to the open channel. The liquid in the open channel forms an convexly curved portion projecting upwardly from the open channel. A device for transporting a plate at a close distance past the open channel is provided, with which a surface to be coated of the plate facing the convexly curved portion of the liquid is guided such that a thin film of the liquid is deposited on the surface to be coated by adhesion effects. Another device for lacquering or coating plates or disks has a capillary slot that is filled with a liquid coating medium. The plate to be coated is advanced across the capillary slot with the surface to be coated facing downwardly so that due to the capillary effect a thin layer is deposited on the surface of the plate.
Abstract:
Apparatus and a method for dispensing a solution for use in a process including a flow meter and a precision valve are disclosed. A solenoid valve is incorporated within the dispensing apparatus and is electrically connected to the process for preventing flow during process interruption periods. Additional alarm means and safety interlocks are provided for controlling flow based upon operating conditions of the process.

A substrate processing apparatus includes a nozzle block in which a slit-like discharge port is formed and a controller. The controller controls an X-direction driver and a Z-direction driver, so that a nozzle block is moved on a substrate with a gap between the nozzle block and the substrate filled with a processing liquid. At this time, the processing liquid is applied onto the substrate. Thereafter, the nozzle block is separated from the substrate, so that a liquid column connecting the nozzle block to the substrate is formed. The nozzle block is moved such that the liquid column changes from a liquid contact state in which the liquid column is in contact with the processing liquid present in a discharge port to a non-contact state in which the liquid column is not in contact with the processing present in the discharge port.

The invention provides a fragrance delivery system comprising: a control unit for controlling a release mechanism to release at least one selected fragrance, said control unit comprising a selection unit for selecting said selected fragrance from at least two fragrances and controlling said release mechanism to release said selected fragrance, and a switching element for switching said release mechanism between an first state and an second state or vice versa, in which first state said release mechanism releases said selected fragrance at a higher rate than in said second state. The invention further provides a kit of parts comprising said device and a at least two fragrance reservoirs filled with a fragrance chemical. In addition, the invention relates to the use of a control unit for controlling a release mechanism to release a selected one of at least two fragrances in a fragrance delivery system, which control unit comprises a selection unit for selecting said selected fragrance and controlling said release mechanism to release said selected fragrance, and a switching element for switching said release mechanism between an active state and an inactive state or vice versa, and to the use of the present fragrance delivery system to deliver a fragrance to a space which is at least periodically occupied by an individual.

A moistening system that significantly reduces the problems caused by contaminants in the moistening fluid is provided. The catch basin of a moistening system is provided with a filter that reduces the amount of contaminants contained in the recycled moistening fluid. Additionally, the moistening fluid is buffered with an acid that acts to dissolve the paper filler and other soluble debris that may be introduced into the moistening fluid, thereby significantly decreasing any blinding of components of the moistening system that would otherwise reduce the flow rate of the moistening fluid through the system. These ensure that sufficient moistening fluid is applied to the envelope flaps, which results in consistent and complete sealing of the envelope flaps.

A surface of a substrate 11 (FIG. 2) is uniformly coated with a liquid L by wetting the surface with the liquid and compressibly contacting the wetted surface with an applicator member 10 having an outer layer 14 of a compressible liquid absorbing material with inverse sponge characteristics and an inner layer 13 of compliant material. Preferably the member is a roller 10 having a silicone rubber or polyurethane inner layer and a chamois outer layer. A plurality of the rollers 10 are arranged to be in compressive contact with the surfaces of a plurality of substrates 11 as the substrates are being removed from the liquid L (arrow A), the movement of the substrates 11 causing rotation (arrow F) of the rollers to apply a uniform coating of the liquid on the contacted surfaces.

Abstract:
The present invention provides method for creating point to point metallic contact and bridges between two structures at the nanoscale. Embodiment methods permit for the formation of individual and arrays of silver-gallium nanostructures bridges by mobilizing a gallium microdroplet and bringing in contact with silver coated surface. The invention also describes an example instrument for formation of individual and multiple nanostructure bridges at selective location and orientation. Example structures including multiple nanostructure bridges on the top of each other, suspended nanostructure sensors and actuators, nanowire bonded that provides electrical contacts between nanostructures (e.g. carbon nanotube, Graphene, nanowires) and microelectronic circuits are enabled by this invention.

Apparatus for applying adhesive to outer edge portions of a generally rectangular clear plastic package piece has a lower portion that is a reservoir for liquid adhesive and an upper portion comprising a cover plate for the reservoir and having a flat rectangular top surface with a slot extending along each of the opposing sides of the top perimeter. Additionally, there a pair of longitudinally extending slots along the middle of the top surface and lateral slots extend through other portions of the cover plate. For each slot there is a removably mounted wick assembly, each assembly including a sheet of felt-like wick material that is looped around a rigid support bar with a lower part of the wick material extending downwardly into the reservoir. An upper portion of the wick extends a certain distance above the surface of the cover plate.
