The disclosure provides aromatic polyester polyether polyols and compositions comprising such polyols. The disclosed aromatic polyester polyether polyols and compositions including same are the products of the transesterification reaction of polyethylene terephthalate (“PET”) and an ethoxylated triol, namely glycerin or trimethylolpropane, wherein the degree of ethoxylation is from 1 to 9 moles. At least some of the PET used to generate the aromatic polyester polyether polyols is derived from recycled PET. The disclosed aromatic polyester polyether polyols have utility in preparing polyurethane materials, for example.

Abstract: This disclosure relates to a curable composition that includes at least first, second, and third polymers. The first polymer includes a first monomer unit and a second monomer unit different from the first monomer unit, in which the first monomer unit has the structure of formula (I) defined in the Specification and the second monomer unit has the structure of formula (II) defined in the Specification. The second polymer includes at least about 60 wt % of a styrene monomer unit; and the third polymer includes at most about 60 wt % of a styrene monomer unit. Abstract: Embodiments of a flame retardant composition are provided. The composition includes from 55% to 85% by weight of a blended matrix and from 15% to 45% by weight of a flame retardant package distributed within the blended matrix. The blended matrix includes a polyolefin component and a nitrogen-containing polymer component. In particular, the nitrogen-containing polymer component has a melting temperature of less than 240° C. The flame retardant package includes an acid source, a carbon source, a polyoxometalate ionic liquid, and a synergist. The flame retardant composition can be utilized in cables, such as fiber optic cables.
