Abstract:
The invention is an improved grease composition comprising a major proportion of a grease, a hydroxy-containing soap thickener and a minor amount of a compound prepared by reacting a boron compound with an organic compound containing oxygen, sulfur and/or nitrogen or mixtures thereof.
Abstract:
A water washable thermally conductive grease useful for thermal coupling of electronic chips and heat sinks in electronic modules comprises a hydrophilic liquid polymer carrier, an antioxidant, and up to 90 weight percent of a microparticulate thermally conductive filler. In a preferred embodiment, the thixotropic dielectric composition further comprises an ionic surfactant to promote wetting/dispersion of the microparticulate filler. The thermally conductive grease is non-corrosive, resistant to shear induced phase destabilization and capable of being washed from module surfaces with aqueous solutions. Substitution of the present hydrophilic based greases for art-recognized solvent washable greases eliminates use of non-aqueous solvents in electronic module processing/reprocessing operations.

A subject of the invention is a lubricating grease, characterized in that it contains: from 70 to 95% by weight of a mixture comprising at least a first ester of fatty acid and of sorbitan and at least a second ester of fatty acid and of polyoxyalkylated sorbitan, these esters being present in quantities by weight, relative to the weight of the said mixture, of 10 to 90% and 90 to 10%, respectively; and from 5 to 30% by weight of at least one thickening agent. A subject of the invention is also a preparation process for a grease according to the invention, as well as use as a lubricant of such a grease. A subject of the invention is also a vehicle wheel containing a grease according to the invention.
Abstract:
An organophilic clay thickener for natural oil systems comprising the reaction product of a smectite-type clay and an organic cation in an amount of from about 75% to about 150% of the cation exchange capacity of the smectite-type clay. Said organophilic clay comprising at least one naturally occurring, resulting in increased efficiency as a thickener in natural oil systems.
Abstract:
The invention provides composites of organic polymeric compositions including a matrix of an organic polymer and a filler distributed throughout the matrix, the flier being present in the matrix substantially as separate particles, each about the fundamental particle size of the filler. The fillers are unique mixed metal hydroxide compositions that are obtainable in sub-micron size particles. These particles are layered and have a BET specific surface area in excess of about 100 m.sup.2 /g. An anion of the particulates is selected to be compatible with the organic polymer thereby providing ease of dispersion of the filler particles throughout the polymer matrix.

A tire gel balancing composition having a Storage modulus of between 3000 and 15000 Pa and the Specific Gravity less than 1000 kg/m.sup.3 in the temperature range between -20.degree. and +90.degree. C., preferably its Storage modulus is about 9000 Pa, is capable of balancing tires by being able to flow under the vibrations caused by imbalance in a wheel assembly. The composition preferably comprises a mixture of: 1) paraffinic oils, polybutene oils, polyol esters or polyol ethers; 2) hydrophobic or hydrophilic fumed silica; 3) poly-alkyl-methacrylates, styrene-ethylene-propylene block copolymers or polyhydroxycarboxyl acid derivatives; and optionally corrosion inhibitors and antioxidants.
