Abstract: Provided are: a nucleating agent composition capable of imparting excellent mechanical properties to a molded article containing a polyolefin-based resin; a resin composition containing the nucleating agent composition; the molded article having excellent mechanical properties; and a method for manufacturing the resin composition. The nucleating agent composition is characterized by containing at least one type of a nucleating agent for a polyolefin-based resin, wherein a β crystal fraction ranges from 0.2% to 71% as calculated by the following method. Through the use of a sample sampled from the pellets of the resin composition containing the nucleating agent composition, differential scanning calorimetry is performed according to a predetermined program to find a DSC curve, Q=f(θ), with the horizontal axis being temperature θ(° C.) and the vertical axis being heat flow rate Q(mW), and a baseline, g(θ), thereby obtaining a baseline-corrected DSC curve, Q′=h(θ)=f(θ)−g(θ). Subsequently, according to a predetermined procedure, a line area St and a β crystal area Sβ are found, thereby calculating the β crystal fraction (%).

Abstract: The invention relates to a method for manufacturing a pellet in a pellet mill, which method comprises the steps of (A) pressing a mixture for compaction by a roller through a nozzle to obtain a strand, and (B) comminuting the strand to obtain the pellet, wherein the mixture for compaction comprises (i) 87 to 97 wt. % of a polymer stabilizer mixture polymer stabilizer mixture, which comprises the polymer stabilizers (i-1) 45 to 55 wt. % of tris(2,4-ditert-butylphenyl) phosphite (CAS-No. 31570-04-4), (i-2) 45 to 55 wt. % of tetrakis-[3-(3,5-ditert-butyl-4-hydroxy-phenyl)-propionyloxymethyl]methane (CAS-No. 6683-19-8), and wt. % of the polymer stabilizers (i-1) and (i-2) are based on the weight of the polymer stabilizer mixture, and (ii) 3 to 13 wt. % of a processing aid, which is a propylene-ethylene copolymer and which possesses a melting enthalpy below 20 J/g at 101.32 kPa. The pellet is useful for a dust-free handling of its polymer stabilizer mixture at a manufacturing of a stabilized polymer. Furthermore, a method for stabilizing a polymer, which is a polyolefin, a polystyrene or a mixture thereof, is disclosed, which comprises the dosing of the pellet to the polymer.

Abstract: A thermoplastic polymer composition comprises a polyethylene polymer composition and a salt of bicyclo[2.2.1]heptane-2,3-dicarboxylic acid. The polyethylene polymer composition can have a Melt Relaxation Index of 2 or greater. A method for molding a thermoplastic polymer composition comprises the steps of (a) providing an apparatus comprising a die with an annular orifice, a means for blowing pressurized fluid into a tube exiting the die orifice, and a means for drawing and collecting the tube; (b) providing the thermoplastic polymer composition described above; (c) heating the thermoplastic polymer composition to melt the thermoplastic polymer composition; (d) extruding the molten thermoplastic polymer composition through the die to form a tube; (e) blowing a pressurized fluid into the tube to inflate the tube while simultaneously drawing it; (f) allowing the film to cool; and (g) collecting the film.
