Abstract:
A lubricating composition which comprises a base oil of mineral and/or synthetic origin and, as a friction reducing additive, a combination of molybdenum disulphide, one or more zinc dithiocarbamates and one or more metal dithiophosphates, which composition contains no substantial amount of zinc naphthenate.
Abstract:
A disc drive (10) includes a housing (12), a central axis (80), a stationary member (34) fixed to the housing and coaxial with the central axis, and a rotatable member (36) rotatable about the central axis with respect to the stationary member. A stator (38) is fixed to the housing. A rotor (70) is supported by the rotatable member and is magnetically coupled to the stator. A data storage disc (16) is attached to and is coaxial with the rotatable member. A hydro bearing (37) interconnects the stationary member and the rotatable member and includes a blend of base fluids (84). The base fluids are selected such that one has a viscosity that is greater than a desired viscosity for the drive, another has a viscosity that is less than the desired viscosity and the blend has a viscosity that is within a selected range of the desired viscosity.
Abstract:
An internal combustion engine lubricant contains a vegetable oil with an oleic acid content of more than 77 %, at least one first alkylselenium antioxidant, a first dispersant, a pour point depressant and a detergent, wherein said lubricant may advantageously contain polybutene, which allows the used lubricant to be burned in the combustion chamber(s) of the engine.
Abstract:
According to the method of the invention, first a paste is produced from a plastics dispersion and fillers in order to form the plastics sliding layer. This paste is free from organic solvents and is applied to a sintered porous metal layer. The resultant multi-layer material is then sintered. Since organic solvents are not used, the risks to health and the risk of fire are considerably reduced. Furthermore, the composite materials produced according to the invention have exceptional resistance to cavitation. In addition to conventional fields of application relative to lubrication-free articles, such as bearings, these composite materials can therefore also be used in gear pumps and shock absorbers.
Abstract:
A microlens of any designed configuration is formed as a replica in a photoresist material, and the photoresist material replica is used to reproduce the replica directly in a substrate material.
Abstract:
A method for preparing a nano suspension lubricant comprises providing substantially spherical nano particles of size ranging from about less than 50 nanometers to about 100 nanometers. The method further comprises mixing the nano particles and a surfactant in about 1:1 ratio in a solvent to form a mixture. The solvent is evaporated from the mixture to obtain surface modified nano particles. The surface modified nano particles include the nano particles coated with the surfactant. The method comprises mixing the surface modified nano particles with a lubricating fluid to form the nano suspension lubricant, where the lubricating fluid comprises about 90% to 99% base oil and about 1% to 10% additives.
Abstract:
Provided are microalgal compositions and methods for their use. The microalgal compositions include lubricants that find use in industrial and other applications.
