Abstract: PURPOSE:To prepare the titled compound absolutely without producing ammonium sulfate as a by-product, by using adipic acid and adiponitrile as raw materials, reducing the raw materials via cyanovaleric acid and its ester to aminocaproic acid ester, heating the product to obtain caprolactam, separating the lactam from the system, and recycling the residue to the reaction system. CONSTITUTION:Adipic acid and adiponitrile are fed through the lines 10 and 11 to the exchange reactor 1 to obtain cyanovaleric acid, which is sent as it is to the esterification reactor 2 to obtain cyano-valeric acid ester. The ester is reduced to aminocaproic acid ester in the hydrogenation reactor 7 in the presence of a catalyst. The obtained ester is heated in the cyclizatinxon reactor 8 together with a polyhydric alcohol sent from the distillation column 9 and, having a boiling point of higher than caprolactam. The resultant caprolactam is separated from the system by distilling in the distillation column 9, and the distillation residue liquid is recycled through the line 22 to the cyclization reactor 8. EFFECT:The objective compound can be produced in high yield, without producing by-products.
