Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide wave forms different from wave forms of the prior art to a steel filament of a steel structure.SOLUTION: A single steel filament is adapted for the reinforcement of elastomers, and the single steel filament includes one or more steel elements (10). At least one of the steel elements (10) includes a first and a second crimps. The first crimp extends in a plane that is substantially different from the plane of the second crimp. Formation of both crimps can be carried out efficiently by using two pairs of toothed wheels (12, 14) which are not externally driven. The crimps render it possible to obtain single steel filament with an increased penetration of rubber or with an increased elongation at break.
Abstract:
A helical cord having an elliptical shape and the like is manufactured so that a length-to-width ratio or a dimension of a shaped form of the cord to be shaped in a longitudinal direction can be changed. A cord (C) is sequentially passed through through holes (21H, 22H) of stationary and movable shaping bodies (21, 22) opposing each other of a shaping device (20). At that time, the movable shaping body (22) is moved along the stationary shaping body (21) by a moving device so that the through holes (21H, 22H) become eccentric with respect to each other, and the cord (C) passing between the eccentric through holes (21H, 22H) is bent and deformed so as to be shaped. Also, a first and a second displacement mechanism that displace the movable shaping body (22) in X- and Y-directions are provided in the moving device, the movable shaping body (22) is thereby reciprocatingly displaced in the both directions in synchronization by displacement amounts which were set, respectively, the movable shaping body (22) is continuously moved in response to the displacements in the both directions, and thus the passing cord (C) is shaped.

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a tension member for communication cables, which has high adhesion to another member and excellent pullout strength, has sufficient strength and can be manufactured at low cost; and to provide a method of manufacturing the same. SOLUTION: A tension member 1 has a polyester resin monofilament as a component element and is used as an internal reinforcing member of a communication cable, and the polyester resin monofilament has deformed cross-section portions 2 and non-deformed cross-section portions 3 alternated consecutively along its lengthwise direction and has an concave-convex outer shape where a ratio a/b of a longer diameter a to a short diameter b of the deformed cross-section potions 2 is 1.2 to 4.0 and circumscribed circle diameters of the non-deformed cross-section portions 3 are 0.2 to 5.0 mm. PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a single-layered rubber-product-reinforcing steel cord with good rubber penetration properties, excellent fatigue resistance, and small low-load stretch. SOLUTION: All of wires 11 are provided with curls having a substantially elliptical cross-section and a pitch smaller than that of curls for intertwining, formed by providing the wires with spiral curls and then pressing the wires. These wires are intertwined into each other to form a single-layered twist structure, and, thus, a cord is obtained in which a hollow portion at the center of the cord is in communication with an outside via a gap 12 between the wires 11, and at least any one pair of adjacent wires 11 are substantially in contact with each other at any point in the longitudinal direction of the cord. PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a pneumatic radial tire suitable for use for a heavy load with improved uneven wear of a tread part and improved belt durability. SOLUTION: This pneumatic radial tire comprises main belts 11, 13 extending to cross each other, and a 0° belt having a steel cord extended at an angle of 0° relative to a tire peripheral direction. The pneumatic radial tire has a ply twist structure using strands S having a 1×n structure (n=2 to 5) in which element wires F are twisted so that each element wire F has spiral continuous waves in the longitudinal direction, a corrugated height H of the continuous waves and an element wire diameter d satisfy the relation of 1.1≤H/d≤1.5, and a corrugated pitch L and a strand twist pitch P1 satisfy the relation of 0.25≤L/P1≤0.55, and the strands S are further twisted together. PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a steel wire having superior linearity with little variance, and also to provide a method and an apparatus for simply manufacturing the steel wire. SOLUTION: A steel wire for which drawing is finished is passed through straightening rolls for which grooved rolls each rotatable around the axis are arranged across the pass line. Simultaneously, the straightening rolls are rotated around the pass line as the center axis, thereby giving spirality to the wire, and dispersing a surface residual stress on the cross-sectional circumference, so that straightness by the spiral interference is contrived.
