PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a steel cord maintaining the parallel arrangement of parallel core bundles without being twisted with each other, and to provide a tire to which the steel cord is applied. SOLUTION: The steel cord includes the core in which a plurality of wires are bundled in parallel without twisting together, and a sheath by the plurality of wires wound around the core. In the steel cord, the molded amount L1 of the wires in the sheath in the minor axis direction in a contour shape of the steel cord and the molded amount L2 of the wires in the sheath in the major axis direction therein satisfy following formulas (1) and (2): L1≤2.5×b+(a-b)/2 (1) and 0.9×(n×a+2×b)≤L2≤1.1×(n×a+2×b) (2) (wherein, (a) is the wire diameter of the core; (b) is the wire diameter of the sheath; and (n) is the number of wires in the core). PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an open structure steel cord that has an intended elliptical shape which has a uniform ratio of the minor axis to the major axis in the longitudinal direction of the cord. SOLUTION: The steel cord is a single-layer open-structure steel cord formed of seven or more steel filaments and has a cross-section of an elliptical shape extending continuously in the longitudinal direction of the cord wherein the ratio A/B of the minor axis A to the major axis B in the elliptical shape is 0.4-0.8; the diameter d of the steel filament is 0.12-0.26 mm; and the ratio a/d of the twist pitch (a) of the cord to the diameter d of the steel filament is 30-80. PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for production of a steel cord for reinforcing rubber articles, by which a plurality of untwisted core wires are parallelly arranged stably in the longitudinal direction without overlapping, when producing the steel cord for reinforcing rubber articles having untwisted parallel core wires. SOLUTION: The method produces a steel cord for reinforcing rubber articles by using a buncher twister, which cord has a core provided by arranging a plurality of core wires parallelly without twisting and a plurality of sheath wires twisted around the core, and has a cord having a cross-section of almost oval. The core and the sheath wires are twisted to be the final twisted cord 1, and, soon after removing the twist of the final twisted cord 1 by an over twister 11, the final twisted cord without twist is processed through three or more flat rolls 12 having a flat contact surface with the cord. PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a steel cord useful for reinforcing a tire crown part in particular, producible in high efficiency with stable quality without any problems on its production as seen in conventional cases, and to provide a rubber-steel cord composite body and a tire each using the steel cord. SOLUTION: The steel cord has such a multilaid structure that N strands 2 (N=2-8) each with nearly elliptical crosssection made by laying a plurality of wires 1 are laid together. In the steel cord, the ratio d1/d2 is greater than 1.08 (wherein, d1 and d2 are the major axis and the minor axis of the strand 2, respectively). PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a steel cord for reinforcing rubber article excellent in durability compared to conventional one by improving structure of the cord, and to provide a pneumatic radial tire improving steering stability and durability by using the steel cord. SOLUTION: The steel cord for reinforcing rubber article has 1×n structure composed of a plurality of steel wires twisted in the same direction with the same twisting pitch. Wherein the number of steel wires is 6-12, and the diameter of the steel wire is 0.08-0.21 mm. The invention relates to the pneumatic radial tire comprising a carcass 1 toroidally extending between a pair of bead sections 11 as a skeleton, and reinforcing crown section of the carcass with a belt layer 2. PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a steel cord which is a zero-degree belt cord following to the expansion in the radial direction of a tire in a vulcanizing treatment, reducing the elongation after molding of the tire, suppressing the expansion of the tire in the diametral direction during running and having low rigidity in the rotative direction of the tire and high rigidity in the direction intersecting the rotative direction of the tire at right angles. SOLUTION: The steel cord 1 has a 3×3 structure. The external tangent line S2 of strands 2 is a nearly elliptical shape in nearly the same direction in the longitudinal direction and the external tangent line S1 of the steel cord 1 is a nearly elliptical shape in the same direction as the elliptical direction of the strands 2. Furthermore, the strands 2 have an elliptical spiral preform (shown by dotted lines) with a smaller pitch than the lay pitch length of the steel cord and the contact or approach and separation of the adjacent strands 2 and 2 are present at least once in the one lay pitch. SOLUTION: This steel cord is constituted by winding m-pieces (when n=2, 8≤m≤12 and when n=3, 9≤m≤13) of sheath filaments having a layered twist structure having the same direction with that of a core strand, around the core obtained by arranging the 2 pieces of core strands obtained by twisting n-pieces (n=2 or 3) filaments, in parallel.
