Abstract: An encapsulated tubular cable with a colorized identification strap includes armored protection ducts and an encapsulation protection layer. A hollow passage is formed in the center of the duct body after each armored protection duct is formed. A wire cable, an optical fiber, or an oil duct is placed in the hollow passage. The encapsulation protection layer wraps the armored protection ducts. A plurality of armored protection ducts are arranged in one encapsulated protection layer. A peripheral edge of each armored protection duct is correspondingly provided with at least one colorized identification strap group. The encapsulation protection layer improves the corrosion resistance of the encapsulated duct cable; the colorized identification straps are provided at the thinnest positions of the encapsulation protection layer to facilitate tearing and encapsulation; and each colorized identification strap has a respective color identifier, which is convenient for distinguishing objects in each hollow passage during use.

Abstract: A system and method for non-destructive, in situ, positive material identification of a pipe selects a plurality of test areas that are separated axially and circumferentially from one another and then polishes a portion of each test area. Within each polished area, a non-destructive test device is used to collect mechanical property data and another non-destructive test device is used to collect chemical property data. An overall mean for the mechanical property data, and for the chemical property data, is calculated using at least two data collection runs. The means are compared to a known material standard to determine, at a high level of confidence, ultimate yield strength and ultimate tensile strength within +/−10%, a carbon percentage within +/−25%, and a manganese percentage within +/−20% of a known material standard.

Abstract: A fluidic piping system for aircraft, comprising a pipe made in a single piece and an insulating sheath surrounding the pipe. The pipe comprises potential cutoff zones defining sections of the fluidic piping system, reinforced zones arranged in pairs on either side of each potential cutoff zone, and non-reinforced zones defined between the pairs of reinforced zones as intermediate zones. An aircraft system, such as a ventilation and air conditioning module for an aircraft avionics bay, can comprise a limited number of such fluidic piping systems, and can easily be repaired by replacing a damaged section of the piping without it being necessary to disassemble the aircraft equipped with such a system.

Abstract: A method for drill pipe tallying includes detecting that a drill bit (14) has tripped in through a rig floor and monitoring movement of a drawworks (6) that supports the drill bit and a length of drill pipe. If a tag interrogating device does not detect a wireless tag (26) associated with a set of slips, the method includes counting the movement of the drawworks toward a drill pipe tally. If a tag interrogating device detects a wireless tag associated with a set of slips, the method includes not counting the movement of the drawworks toward the drill pipe tally. The tag interrogating device is positioned at a fixed location relative to the rig floor.
