Abstract:
A method is provided for analyzing and diagnosing a large scale process automation control system having a plurality of control loops. Assessments for predefined key performance indicators (KPIs) are automatically generated for control, process and signal sections of each control loop. The automatically generated assessments of the pre-defined KPIs may be displayed in a graphical user interface (GUI) of a computer. A user may change the automatically generated assessments of the pre-defined KPIs. Different data views may also be displayed in the GUI. The data views include time series trends for measured process variable, controller output, controller set point and error, as well as controller parameter clustering views in two-dimensional and three-dimensional plots.
Abstract:
A system for the detection of welded contacts in a circuit of a line converter system has a plurality of inverter switches, a plurality of utility switches in which a pair of utility switches is connected in series through a line to a utility, a voltage detector, an electronic controller, and a DC input source. The line converter system converts incoming DC power into AC output power that is delivered to the utility grid. The voltage detector measures the voltage across a first node and a second node of the circuit and provides an output that is interpreted by an electronic controller for each step performed during a method of detection of welded contacts. The detection method has a sequence of test steps in which at least one switch is opened and/or closed, a DC bus of the inverter or the utility grid is used as a stimulus voltage, and the voltage is measured. If a voltage is not detected across the first and second nodes, the test sequence is continued until a welded contact is detected or the electronic controller determines that none of the contacts are welded. If the controller determines that none of the contacts are welded, the line converter system is permitted to connect and supply AC power to the utility.
Abstract:
The present invention is directed to an analyzer for measuring the vapor pressure of a hydrocarbon liquid. The analyzer includes a pressure measuring system connected to an air saturation system having a circulation chamber with opposing first and second ends. A first opening is disposed toward the first end and a second opening is disposed toward the second end. A plumbing system connects the first and second openings. A pump moves the hydrocarbon liquid through the plumbing system from the first opening to the second opening so as to saturate the hydrocarbon liquid with air. The air saturation system has a cooler for cooling the hydrocarbon liquid and the pressure measuring system has a heater for heating the hydrocarbon liquid. The pump may be a piston actuated pump or a motor-driven pump and the plumbing system may include an aeration chamber.
Abstract:
A paint delivery system (10) for delivering paint to a spraying device (34). The paint delivery system (10) includes a launch station (42) connected by a flow line (52) to an arrival station (44) and one or more shuttles. Paint and the one or more shuttles are transmitted from the launch station (42) to the arrival station (44) and the paint is delivered from the arrival station (44) to the spraying device (34). After the paint is delivered to the spraying device (34), the one or more shuttles are returned to the launch station (42) through the flow line (52). In one or more embodiments, the paint transmitted from the launch station (42) is followed or preceded by a predetermined amount of solvent disposed between two shuttles.

Abstract:
A lift station (16) is located below the robot (14) and includes a stop assembly, a lift assembly, a sensor assembly, a control system and a conveying path over which the objects may move. The stop assembly has a barrier. The lift assembly has a lift operable to raise any of the objects located in the lift area above the conveying path to a pick position from which the robot can grasp the object. A control system is connected to the stop assembly and the lift assembly and is operable to control the movement of the barrier from the release position to the blocking position to prevent any of the other objects from moving from the hold area to the lift area when the lift is raising the object to the pick position.
Abstract:
A method and system to optimize the parameters of a robot used in an assembly process. The assembly process is categorized based on its nature which may be cylindrical, radial and multi-stage insertion. The search pattern and search parameters are specified. The parameters are optimized and the optimized parameter set are verified and when a predetermined criteria such as assembly cycle time set and/or success rate is met the optimization process stops. When the optimization stops the verified parameters are used to cause the robot to perform the categorized assembly process. If the parameters do not meet the predetermined criteria, another round of optimization using the same or other parameters can be performed.
Abstract:
A system for monitoring and controlling a batch process. The system includes a control system that is operable to control the batch process and to receive measured process variables of the batch process. An analyzer analyzes a material sample from the batch process and generates array data representative of the composition of the material sample. An analyzer controller is operable to collect the array data from the analyzer and the measured process variables from the control system. A software data server running on a computer is operable to retrieve the array data and the measured process variables from the analyzer controller. A software information management system running on the computer is operable to receive the measured process variables and the array data from the data server and to store the measured process variables and the array data in a database in an associated manner.
