    Abstract: Described embodiments relate to a hand-held portable sedimentation measurement device, comprising: a closeable fluid container having a container wall and defining a chamber to receive fluid for sedimentation measurement and defining a central longitudinal axis; multiple light sources disposed along the container and generally parallel to the longitudinal axis to direct light through the wall into the chamber; multiple light sensors disposed along the container arranged to detect light passing through the chamber from at least one of the light sources; a controller configured to control emission of light from the sources and to receive detection signals from the light sensors, wherein sedimentation measurements are derived from the light emitted from the light sources and the detection signals; a communication interface coupled to the controller and arranged to transmit sedimentation data to an external computing device; and a housing connected to the container and housing the controller and interface.

    Abstract: A blockchain process executed by a proposer computing node, including the steps of generating proposed transaction data representing a set of proposed transactions from a group of transactions, where the proposed transactions are distinct from the proposed transactions of one or more other proposer nodes, transmitting the proposed transaction data to a predetermined number of associated verifier computing nodes to verify each of the proposed transactions, receiving, from at least one of the predetermined number of verifier computing nodes, verification data indicating a verification result of each proposed transaction, and generating block data to include one or more transactions of the group in a blockchain data structure, the included transactions being verified ones of: the proposed transaction set of the proposer computing node; and the respective other proposed transaction sets of the other proposer nodes.

    Abstract: A process for the absorption of a target gaseous component from a gas stream comprising the steps of: contacting the gas stream with an absorber comprising an liquid absorbent for absorbing the target gaseous component to produce a rich liquid absorbent stream and a non target gaseous component, said non target gaseous component including water vapour; treating the rich liquid absorbent stream in a desorber to thereby release the target gaseous component and a water vapour component into a desorber gas stream and produce a lean liquid absorbent stream; and forming a recovered water stream from the output of a water separator for separating the water vapour from the target gaseous component, said water separator forming part of the absorber and/or the desorber. The lean liquid absorbent stream exiting the desorber is treated with a forward osmosis (FO) membrane unit comprising a water permeable membrane, wherein the membrane unit transfers water from a salt water stream through the water permeable membrane to the lean liquid absorbent stream, thereby replenishing at least part of the water removed in the process.
