Abstract:
The present invention provides an aqueous emulsion resin composition which comprises: (a) a resin composition containing at least one fluoroolefin polymer having crosslinkable group(s) at a terminus and/or a side chain of its molecule and at least one non-fluoroolefin polymer having crosslinkable group(s) at a terminus and/or a side chain of its molecule; and (b) at least one curing agent selected from the group consisting of isocyanates, melamines, hydrazides, carbodiimides, silanes and epoxides; and provides an aqueous emulsion resin compositions containing at least one chemically bonded product of a fluoroolefin polymer and a non-fluoroolefin polymer bonded to each other via at least one covalent bond at a terminus and/or a side chain of the molecules wherein one or both of the fluoroolefin polymer and the non-fluoroolefin polymer have crosslinkable group(s).
Abstract:
A polymer emulsion with good film forming property, which is mixed a synthetic polymer emulsion containing the polymer having the particle size of 0.15 nullm or longer in diameter and a synthetic polymer emulsion containing the polymer having particle size of 0.10 nullm or shorter in diameter, wherein the glass transition temperature of the latter polymer is at least 20 degree lower than that of the former emulsion and the particle size ratio between the former polymer and the latter polymer is 2 or more. The polymer emulsion is used for making moisture-proof coated paper and/or recyclable-coated paper.
Abstract:
Hybrid polymeric compositions of epoxy resin and vinyl acetate polymer are combined in an aqueous emulsion also containing an emulsifying agent and isophoronediamine as a hardener for the epoxy resin. The emulsion is stable for long periods of time but can be cast and cured at room temperature, providing a one-pot system for the preparation of protective coatings, laminating adhesives, and the like. The vinyl acetate polymer must be emulsion polymerized independently of the epoxy resin and is preferably a copolymer of vinyl acetate with ethylene or n-butyl acrylate. The pot life of these hybrid polymer emulsions containing the epoxy hardening agent is at least one month and frequently as long as a year.

Abstract:
The present invention relates to a water-based fluorine-containing emulsion. This emulsion contains a fluorine-containing copolymer in a disperse phase thereof This copolymer is prepared by copolymerizing: (A) a fluoroolefin, (B) an organosilicon compound containing an olefinic unsaturated bond and an alkoxysilyl group, (C) an unsaturated carboxylic acid represented by a general formula of CH.sub.2 .dbd.CH--(CH.sub.2).sub.n --COOH where n is an integer of from 3 to 15, and (D) at least one other copolymerizable monomer. A paint prepared from the emulsion is superior in storage stability and mechanical stability, although this paint belongs to a one-package paint. A coated film formed by applying the paint is superior in water resistance in its early stages, stain resistance, and weather resistance.
Abstract:
A printing ink composition is prepared containing a pigment and a polymer emulsion which comprises a first polymer network which is intertwined on a molecular scale with a second polymer network.
Abstract:
A stable blend of a vinyl halide latex and an acrylic latex is prepared by adjusting pH of the latexes to below about 6, adding a surfactant containing nitrogen having attached thereto alkyleneoxy groups to one or both of the latexes, and mixing the latexes, the surfactant is selected from cationic-nonionic surfactants, and amount thereof should be sufficient to maintain the latex blend stable for at least one month at 20.degree. C.
Abstract:
A process is provided which prepares an aqueous polymer emulsion containing an interpenetrating polymer network. This polymer emulsion is useful as a binder, adhesive or coating.
Abstract:
A method of decorating an article having an iridescent visual effect and an article with surface decoration are provided. The method comprises depositing a plurality of mono-dispersed particles onto a curved surface of the article, each particle having a size of from about 230 nm to about 360 nm with a polydispersity index (PDI) of below 0.2, to form a layer of regularly-ordered colloidal crystals on a surface having a curvature of at least 0.02 cm−1. The colloidal crystals create an iridescent visual effect on the surface where multiple colors can be seen as a person views the substrate from different angles, and the intensity and brightness of the colors is at an optimal level.
Abstract:
