Abstract: The present invention aims to provide a polysiloxane composition which exhibits high heat and light resistance, and excellent gas-barrier properties. The polysiloxane composition of the present invention includes: (A) a modified polyhedral polysiloxane which is obtained by modifying (a) an alkenyl group-containing polyhedral polysiloxane compound with (b) a hydrosilyl group-containing compound; and (B) an organopolysiloxane containing at least two alkenyl groups in a molecule, wherein the polysiloxane composition after curing has a water vapor permeability of not more than 30 g/m2/24 h, and the polysiloxane composition includes (B1) an aryl group-containing organopolysiloxane as the organopolysiloxane (B), and/or (C) a component which is (C1) an organosilicon compound that contains one alkenyl or hydrosilyl group in a molecule, or (C2) a cyclic olefin compound that contains one carbon-carbon double bond in a molecule.

Abstract: A polymer composition includes: about 20 wt % to about 80 wt % of a polycarbonate polymer; about 1 wt % to about 20 wt % of a polycarbonate-siloxane copolymer; about 15 wt % to about 35 wt % of a reinforcing filler having a tensile modulus of at least about 150 GPa; and about 4 wt % to about 20 wt % of a flame retardant comprising phosphorous. The polymer composition demonstrates a flexural modulus in an amount equal to or greater than about 10 GPa. Methods of forming a polymer composition and blended thermoplastic compositions are also described.

Component (A) is set to be at least one selected from the group consisting of (a1) paraffin wax, (a2) microcrystalline wax, (a3) Fischer-Tropsch wax, and (a4) polyethylene wax, and component (B) is produced from at least one of (b1) a (meth)acrylonitrile, (b2) a (meth)acrylic acid having a carbon number of 1 to 4, (b3) a hydroxyethyl (meth)acrylate or hydroxypropyl (meth)acrylate, (b4) styrene, and (b5) predetermined (meth)acrylic acid alkyl esters. Component (A) is 50 to 98 parts by mass relative to 100 parts by mass of the total of (A) and (B), and component (C) is 0.001 to 1 percent by mass relative to the total amount of (A).

Abstract: A composition includes specific amounts of an aromatic polycarbonate, a block polycarbonate-polysiloxane, a poly(alkylene terephthalate), a block polyestercarbonate, and an organophosphate ester. Relative to a corresponding composition lacking the block polyestercarbonate, the composition exhibits improved solvent resistance while substantially maintaining impact strength, melt flow, and flame retardancy. The composition is useful for fabricating articles that may come into contact with liquid chemicals or chemical vapors.

Abstract: A flame resistant polymer is obtained by reacting polyacrylonitrile with amine and nitro compounds, the polyacrylonitrile being polymerized by aqueous suspension polymerization using a redox initiator and containing an S component at an amount of 3,000 μg/g or less. A PAN-based polymer in which both yarn producing properties and flame resistance are improved can be realized.
