Abstract: A grease composition for constant velocity joints consists essentially of: (a) a base oil; (b) an urea thickener; (c) molybdenum disulfide; (d) a calcium salt or an overbasic calcium salt selected from the group consisting of calcium salts or overbasic calcium salts of oxidized waxes, petroleum sulfonates, alkyl aryl sulfonates, salicylate, and phenates; (e) a metal-free sulfur-phosphorus extreme pressure agent; and (f) molybdenum dithiocarbamate. The grease composition exhibits excellent wear-resistance and pitting-inhibitory effect.

CONSTITUTION: A sintered copper based alloy is treated with a selective chemical etching liquid, e.g., comprising one or more of compounds selected from the group consisting of peroxide, peroxo compounds, chromic acid and permanganic compounds, and further comprising one or more of compounds selected from the group consisting of phosphoric acid, sulfuric acid, nitric acid, hydrochloric acid, hydrofluoric acid, zircon hydrofluoric acid, titanium hydrofluoric acid, molybdic acid, tungstic acid, vanadic acid, niobic acid and organic chelating agents. Thereafter, a lubricative film is provided on the surface thereof.

Abstract: Disclosed herein are a lubricating composition comprising 5 to 65% by weight of a solid lubricant powder material, 5 to 20% by weight of a lubricating oil which is in a liquid or paste form at an ordinary temperature, 1 to 8% by weight of a carrier for absorbing and possessing said lubricating oil, 10 to 30% by weight of a thermoplastic resin, and 25 to 50% by weight of a thermosetting synthetic resin, and a sliding member comprising a metal substrate and a solid lubricant composed of the lubricating composition.

Abstract: A lubricant additive for gear oils and an improved gear oil are disclosed. The additive comprises about 0.01 to about 65 percent, by weight, of solid lubricant particles selected from the group consisting of molybdenum disulfide, graphite, cerium fluoride, zinc oxide, tungsten disulfide, mica, boron nitrate, boron nitride, borax, silver sulfate, cadmium iodide, lead iodide, barium fluoride, tin sulfide, fluorinated carbon, PTFE, intercalated graphite, zinc phosphide, zinc phosphate, and mixtures thereof; combined with about 0.1 to about 25 percent, by weight, of a stabilizing agent consisting of an ethylene-propylene copolymer; and a fluid carrier. The lubricant additive provides the gear oil with improved demulsibility, stability, and compatibility characteristics of the gear oil when contaminated with water.

Abstract: A method for preparing a nano suspension lubricant comprises providing substantially spherical nano particles of size ranging from about less than 50 nanometers to about 100 nanometers. The method further comprises mixing the nano particles and a surfactant in about 1:1 ratio in a solvent to form a mixture. The solvent is evaporated from the mixture to obtain surface modified nano particles. The surface modified nano particles include the nano particles coated with the surfactant. The method comprises mixing the surface modified nano particles with a lubricating fluid to form the nano suspension lubricant, where the lubricating fluid comprises about 90% to 99% base oil and about 1% to 10% additives.
