Abstract:
In described embodiments, data pattern-based detection of loss of signal (LOS) is employed for a receive path of serializer/deserializer (SerDes) devices. Pattern-based LOS detection allows for detection of data loss over variety of types of connection media, and is generally insensitive to signal attenuation. More specifically, some described embodiments disclose reliable pattern-based detection of LOS across different connection media for incoming receive data when discreet time decision feedback equalization (DFE) is employed.
Abstract:
In an embodiment, a method of determining whether to trigger an event based on data blocks having status data includes electronically receiving the data blocks over a channel, performing a data integrity check on the data blocks to determine whether a particular data block has a transmission fault, calculating a received error metric based on performing the data integrity check, and disabling an event trigger if the received error metric crosses a first error threshold.
Abstract:
In an aspect, a method assists with blind decoding of uplink control signals on a Physical Uplink Shared Channel (PUSCH) and Physical Uplink Control Channel (PUCCH). The method assists in determining the uplink control path in the event a user equipment (UE) misses an uplink grant and blind decoding occurs. It is determined whether an uplink acknowledgement, rank indicator, and/or channel quality indicator are found on a PUSCH. If not, it is determined whether a scheduling request is expected and whether special handling for the scheduling request is indicated. Depending on those determinations, and whether any decoding attempts for uplink signals are successful, either the PUSCH or PUCCH is selected as the uplink control path.
Abstract:
Aspects relate to mitigating interference in a communication network that does not employ a centralized scheduler. A transmission sent on a subset of resources is evaluated to determine a number of communication pairs that have selected that subset of resources on which to transmit. If there are a large number of communication pairs transmitting on that subset, the transmission is ignored by a receiving device. The number of degrees of freedom that contain energy on the subset is evaluated to determine if an expected number of degrees of freedom that should have energy is met or exceeded. If the expected threshold number is met or exceed, the transmission is decoded by the receiving device, else the transmission is not decoded.
Abstract:
Methods are provided for fade protection at infrastructure equipment in a wireless communication network. The disclosed fade protection methods quantify signal quality, and based on the signal quality can detect fade conditions and/or recovery from such fade conditions. In one implementation, the disclosed fade protection methods can be implemented at Fixed Network Equipment (FNE) in an Association of Public-Safety Communications Officials (APCO) Project 25 (P25) compliant system.
Abstract:
A dynamic data transmission adjustment method in a wireless communication system. The system includes a base station and a user equipment. The base station and the user equipment communicate amongst themselves by using a first transmission technique. The method includes transmitting a plurality of frames between the base station and the user equipment using a regular transmission scheme according to the first transmission technique, and at least one iteration of the following steps: calculating a specific error rate in at least one specific region of the transmitted frames; and adjusting the regular transmission scheme when a value representative of the specific error rate associated to the specific region exceeds a predetermined threshold.
Abstract:
This disclosure describes techniques for operating a client device to communicate with a wireless access point to validate data within a frame by comparing channel quality metrics and duration metrics to thresholds. Information received within a validity window may be treated as correctly received even if the frame fails a subsequent verification process or if reception of the frame is terminated prior to the end of the frame.
Abstract:
Long time interleaver and listenable audio performance enhancements for a satellite receiver are presented. One enhancement includes comparing a correlation and a predetermined threshold value and blocking satellite signal data transmission from entry into long time interleaver (LTI) device circuitry and forward error correction (FEC) circuitry when the correlation value is the same as, or less than the predetermined threshold value. Another enhancement includes using Reed-Solomon codeword error checking to prevent erroneous baseband signal data from being accepted as good baseband signal data. A further enhancement includes storing symbol timing and frequency data during a strong signal condition of the satellite receiver and using this stored data when the satellite receiver encounters a weak signal condition. Another enhancement includes mitigating DC offset noise in a satellite receiver having a zero-IF tuner.
Abstract:
A base station apparatus capable of communicating with a user equipment terminal using a downlink shared channel is disclosed. The base station apparatus includes a user selection unit selecting a user equipment terminal to which radio resources are to be allocated, the selection being based on whether there is a MAC-layer control signal to be transmitted to the user equipment terminal.
Abstract:
A method, system, network and device provide Smart Grid Radio Frequency Interference (RFI) detection. One or more symbols or chips present in one or more received radio frequency signals are detected and the presence of one or more erred symbols or chips in the detected one or more symbols present in the received one or more radio frequency signals determined. A correlation in time between the one or more erred symbols or chips and an infrastructure waveform associated with electrical infrastructure can be determined. When the determined correlation indicates the electrical infrastructure as a source of detectable radio frequency interference to a device, a pattern flag is generated. The pattern flag or pattern flag representation can be stored and/or transmitted.
