Abstract: Metal columns (A) are installed and the head of each column has a metal cradle (B) forming a horizontal chute . Reinforced concrete joists are shaped to slot into the cradles. they are positioned so each column supports two adjacent ends (10, 10) of aligned joists (C, C) with a gap between them. Reinforced or pre-stressed concrete slabs (D) are positioned to rest on the edges of two joists. Once the slabs are in position, mortar or concrete (E) is poured into the gaps (13) and over the slabs to join the joists, cradles, columns and slabs and to form a covering over the slabs which contributes to the inertia of the structure. The joists have a main reinforcement which ends in a soldered plate. Joists with reinforcements which extend above the concrete (14) may be used. These may be linked by horizontal reinforcements (15). The base of the cradle has a hole (7) so that the column can be filled with mortar or concrete.

Abstract: The material for injection to shroud a framework, and especially prestressed cables, is composed of 1.3-3.0 wt.% of inert hydrophilic particles in the cement mixture. They have a specific surface of more than 200 m /g, to give a fraction during mixing and/or injection into numerous fragments as small as 5 nanometres and as large as 300 nanometres. The particles are of precipitated silica.

Abstract: The barrier for protection against falling is fixed across a wall opening for a door or window. It is fixed by two plates (P) applied against the wall either side the opening. Each plate has a thickness equal to the gap necessary for a sealing joint between the bare wall and the frame of the window or door. Each plate has fixings (3-6) which retain the one end (7a) of the barrier (7). Each plate has a drilling (2) for fixing it to the wall by a bolt. The plate can be extracted from the bolt by sliding laterally, the bolt remaining in place in the wall.

Abstract: Concrete or mortar is sprayed onto a surface by adding an aqueous suspension of silica, and an aluminium cpd. selected from aluminium sulphate, basic aluminium sulphate, alkali metal aluminium sulphate or their mixts.. The suspension has a pH of less than 4, and contains 10-50 wt.% dry material. After storing for 48 hrs., it forms a gel which can be converted back into a suspension by mild stirring.

Abstract: A method and composition for preparing concrete elements comprising the steps of mixing a composition comprising the following components expressed in parts by weight (p): a) 100 p of Portland cement; b) 30 p to 100 p or better 40 p to 70 p of fine sand having a grain size of at least 150 micrometers; c) 10 p to 40 p or better 20 p to 30 p of amorphous silicon having a grain size of less than 0.5 micrometers; d) 20 p to 60 p or better 30 p to 50 p of ground quartz having a grain size of less than 10 micrometers; e) 25 p to 100 p, or better 45 p to 80 p of steel wool; f) a dispersing agent; g) 13 p to 26 p or better 15 p to 22 p of water; and after setting, curing the concrete at a temperature of 250 DEG C. or higher, for a length of time sufficient to transform cement hydration products into crystalline hydrates of the xonotlite type; thus eliminating substantially all of the free water and at least the main part of the adsorbed and chemically bonded water.

Abstract: Structural concrete with structure consisting of cement, sand, ash and additives mixed with water, excluding very large sand granules. The quantity of ash corresponds to total composition of lime produced by hydration of cement by amorphous silica in the ash; and concrete has supplementary volume of ash and/or air corresponding to 10-30% "empty" volume of sand.

Abstract: A metal fiber concrete composition for molding a concrete element, the composition being essentially constituted by a Portland cement, granular elements, fine elements for pozzolan reaction, metal fibers, a dispersing agent, optionally other additives, and water. The preponderant granular elements have a maximum grain size D of not more than 800 micrometers. The preponderant metal fibers have individual lengths 1 lying in the range 4 mm to 20 mm. The ratio R of the mean length L of the fibers divided by said maximum size D of the granular elements is not less than 10. The amount of preponderant metal fibers is such that the volume of preponderant metal fibers lies in the range 1.0% to 4% of the volume of the concrete after setting.
