The laser is scanned longitudinally of the body 1 which is rotated at a speed which may be varied to obtain a desired pattern of the portions 3. The resistance of the film is preferably increased by a factor of between 1 and 10.

Abstract: The compn. consists of an electrically conducting oxide cpd. (I), a glass frit (II), and an organic medium, (I) being a La/Mn oxide of formula: x. La2O3 + y. MnO2 (in which x = 20-50, mole % and y = 50-80 mole %). It is used for the prodn. of resistors on ceramic substrates or in sintered form. In (I), x:y = n:m where n =m and 1=m =4, pref. n = 1 and m = 2. (II) contains a (Pb) borosilicate glass and opt is modified with 5-30 wt.% La2O3 and/or MnO2 and can contain is not >10 wt.% TeO2, Al2O3 and/or noble metal (as resinate) (to regulate the resistance and its temp. coeff.). The compsn. contains 40-80 wt.% (I) and 20-60% (II).
