    Abstract: A method for adjusting the resistance of cylindrical layer resistors comprising utilization of a laser beam. The resistor is rotated about its longitudinal axis at a predetermined rotational speed. Simultaneously therewith, a pulsating laser beam is moved at a predetermined linear speed along a line parallel to the longitudinal axis of the resistor element. The resistor rotational speed is preferably an integral multiple of the linear speed of the laser beam. The impulse time (t) of the laser beam preferably lies within the range from 0.1 to 0.9 of the period time (T). The above relationships produce a resistance element of high quality and having a uniform current density preventing premature burn out of the elements.

    Abstract: The variable electric resistor has a simple construction and is dust-proof and resistant to vibrations for use in road vehicles. It has a plastic material case (1) with a threaded boss (2). The threaded boss (2) has a central hole to take a plastic material spindle (3) onto which is mounted a cursor and a pivot. The cursor makes contact with an electrically conductive wafer track to provide a variable resistance by rotation of the spindle and the cursor. The cursor is electrically connected to the pivot and the track is connected to two terminals. Connection to the cursor is by means of a terminal (5) integral with a disc in contact with the pivot of the spindle.

The laser is scanned longitudinally of the body 1 which is rotated at a speed which may be varied to obtain a desired pattern of the portions 3. The resistance of the film is preferably increased by a factor of between 1 and 10.

    Abstract: The piezoelectric acoustic surface wave filter prevents reflected waves from interfering with teh direct waves by forming the comb electrodes on the curved surface of a cylindrical or tubular body, onto which after size reduction metal is deposited onto its curved outer surface, followed by oxidising and sintering the metal layer and forming a reoxidised layer beneath the body surface. The reoxidised layer is ground and a second metal layer deposited. A voltage is applied between surface metal layer and the second layer, and the reoxidised layer is polarised. The body surface is then ground and polished to the required size and the curved surface coated with a good conductor by vacuum deposition. A photosensitive layer is then added by dipping, rolling or spraying to the curved surface and a photomask placed over it, corresponding to the shape of the final comb electrodes.
