Abstract: The methane refrigerant used in each cooling stage of the open methane refrigeration cycle in a Cascade LNG plant is produced by partially evaporating only a portion of the cooled liquid methane passing out of that stage. As a result, capital and operating costs can be reduced, because the flash drums previously used for liquid/gas separation can be totally eliminated. Further capital and operating cost savings are achieved by eliminating the LNG product pumps, relying instead on the pressure of the product LNG passing out of the last cooling stage to drive this product to storage.

Abstract: A system for dispensing cryogenic liquid (14) to a use device tank (64) from a bulk storage tank (10) containing a supply of cryogenic liquid (14) features a pump (30) in communication with the bulk storage tank (10), a dispensing line in communication with the pump (30) and a heater (52) in communication with the dispensing line. A system control device (82) controls the operation of the pump (30) and heater (52). A liquid level sensor (74) and temperature or pressure sensor (72) communicate with the use device tank (64) and the system control device (82). The system control device (82) calculates the appropriate amount of cryogenic liquid (24) and heat that should be added to the cryogenic liquid (14) as it is dispensed.

Abstract: A cryogenic fluid delivery system includes a tank configured to store a supply of cryogenic liquid and a heat exchanger having a main line and a reheat line. A liquid pickup line has an inlet that receives cryogenic liquid from the tank and directs it to the main line of the heat exchanger. A trim heater exit tee receives fluid from the main line of the heat exchanger. Fluid exits the trim heater exit tee through an engine outlet and a trim heater outlet. Fluid exiting through the engine outlet flows through a flow restriction device and to a primary inlet of a trim heater return tee. A trim heater line receives fluid from the trim heater outlet of the trim heater exit tee and directs it to the reheat line of the heat exchanger after the fluid passes through a portion of the trim heater line positioned within the tank. Warmed fluid leaving the reheat line of the heat exchanger travels to a trim heater inlet of the trim heater return tee.

Abstract: An integrated cryogenic fluid delivery system includes a tank adapted to hold a supply of cryogenic liquid and having an end wall. A shroud is positioned on the end wall and contains a shell and tube heat exchanger. The heat exchanger includes a shell defining a warming fluid chamber and having a shell inlet and a shell outlet in fluid communication with the warming fluid chamber. A number of cryogenic fluid coils are positioned within the warming fluid chamber and are in fluid communication with a cryogenic fluid inlet port and a cryogenic fluid outlet port. A fuel shutoff valve has an inlet in fluid communication with a liquid side of the tank and an outlet in fluid communication with the cryogenic fluid inlet port of the heat exchanger. A manual vent valve has an inlet in fluid communication with a headspace of the tank and an outlet. The fuel shutoff valve and the manual vent valve each have a control knob that is accessible from the first or second side of the shroud.

The rack carrier rests on the bearing in a manual rotation configuration and hangs from the drive shaft when the motor is connected. Coupling the drive shaft to the motor assembly lifts the rack carrier and decouples the bearing and enables automated rotation of the rack carrier by the motor. The rack carrier includes rack-mounting features holding a plurality of sample storage racks (480). The sample storage racks hang from the rack carrier and the rack-mounting features precisely position the end of each sample storage rack.
