Abstract: The hinge comprises a compression spring, which is adapted to balance the weight of a hinged leaf, such as a flap, lid or door. The compression spring is prestressed and bears at one end on the stationary hinge member and at the other end acts by means of a spring guide on a second hinge member, which is attached to the hinged leaf. The spring guide is supported at one end by two limbs of the stationary hinge member and at the other end by a slidable pin, which is mounted in cam slots, which are respectively provided in the limbs of the stationary hinge member and in a control lever. The latter is pivoted at its other end to the movable hinge member. The cam slots have such a configuration that the excursion of the spring resulting from the pivotal movement of the control lever is minimized.

Abstract: A flap is retractable into, and extensible out of, an applicance, and movable only in the latterposition. The appliance's sides have a mechanical housing (3) containing three rollers (4-6), the third being on a swivelling hinge lever (8) which has a bolt (9) supporting a spring (13), on another bolt (12), located on a guide-rail (11) swivelling about a roller axis. A draw cable (25) round the rollers is fastened to a unit (15) sliding in the rail, and to a latch (21) with lug (23) locking in a rail recess (24), when the flap (16) is closed. A stop lever (18), hinged to the rail, turns in the housing, where it enters an exit hole when the appliance is extended. This is inexpensive and allows the flap to swivel regardless of slide position.
