    Abstract: The hinge assembly is intended for use with wings which are hinged on a horizontal axis, such as lids, flaps or the like, particularly in freezers. The compression spring bears at one end on the stationary hinge member under initial stress and at its other end engages an end of a spring-restraining rod, which supports the compression spring and engages the second hinge member, which is attached to the wing. The spring-restraining rod carries at its upper end a slider, which consists of polyamide or a material having similar characteristics and which is guided by a cam that is directly mounted in that hinge member attached to the wing.

    Abstract: The hinge comprises a compression spring for balancing the weight of leaves which are hinged on a horizontal axis, such as covers, flaps or the like, particularly in refrigerating chests. One end of the compression spring bears under initial stress on the stationary hinge member. The other end of the spring bears by means of the end of a spring-guiding rod, which supports the spring, on the second hinge member, which is secured to the leaf. The lower end of the spring-guiding rod bears by means of a rocker on a knife edge bearing provided on the stationary hinge member. The guiding rod is provided with coarse pitch screw threads at its end opposite to the slider. The rocker carries a nut which has coarse pitch screw threads and is in threaded engagement with the lower end of the guiding rod.

    Abstract: Shock absorber for washing machine comprises a cylinder, a longitudinally displaceable Al piston with a piston rod, and a compression spring supported between the piston and a closure member of the cylinder. The piston acts as a frictional and guide member. In the outer surface of the piston are formed blade-like grooves on which is disposed a friction coating. The piston may be in the form of a longitudinally slotted pipe which is guided on a cup spring in the region of each of its end faces. The friction coating is pref. made from polyester fleece, which has no gas inclusions cf. conventional friction coating made of foamed polyester. The rating of each shock absorber can be adjusted by tightening a nut on the end of the piston rod. This allows individual components to be mfd. with greater tolerances.
