    Abstract: A multimode surface cleaning apparatus comprises a surface cleaning head 104 having a dirty air inlet, an upright section 108 moveably mounted to the surface cleaning head 104, the upright section 108 moveable between a plurality of reclined floor cleaning positions, a hand vacuum cleaner 112 removably mounted to the upright section 108, the hand vacuum cleaner 112 comprising a cyclone chamber, a dirt collection region, a suction motor and a clean air outlet and an auxiliary dirt collection assembly 140 removably mounted to the upright section 108. In a first upright mode of operation, the auxiliary dirt collection assembly 140 is removed from the upright section 108 and the hand vacuum cleaner 112 is in airflow communication with the dirty air inlet and, in a second upright mode of operation, the multimode surface cleaning apparatus is operable with the auxiliary dirt collection assembly 140 mounted to the upright section 108. The upright vacuum cleaner can be a stick vacuum cleaner. A further multimode cleaning apparatus is also disclosed.

    Abstract: A surface cleaning apparatus having an air flow path; a suction motor positioned in the air flow path; an air treatment chamber provided in the air flow path; and a porous filter provided in the air treatment chamber and including an outlet passage from the air treatment chamber. An air impermeable impact wall in the air treatment chamber is opposed to an inlet into the air treatment chamber. At least a portion of the impact wall or a deflecting portion of a wall defining part of the front end of the air treatment chamber imparts a circular flow to air entering the air treatment chamber.

    Abstract: An attachment for a hair dryer has a cylindrical body having an inlet end, an opposed closed end, a body axis extending centrally through the cylindrical body between the inlet end and the opposed close end and an axially extending cylindrical sidewall. An air flow path extends from an inlet port provided at the inlet end to a plurality of air outlets provided at the axially extending cylindrical sidewall. The air outlets are angularly spaced around the attachment. A diverting member is rotatably mounted with respect to the cylindrical body about a diverting member axis that is coaxial with the body axis. In operation, rotation of the diverting member alters a direction of air exiting the air outlets.

    Abstract: A method of drying hair using a portable, hand-held hair dryer comprises firstly using suction to draw hair against an inlet port 14 of the hair dryer. Subsequently, the method involves using the hair dryer to direct heated air or infrared radiation at the hair of the person to further dry it. Using this method water may be removed from the hair without changing phase. The hair dryer may have an inlet port on one side 14 and an outlet port (16, fig 3) on the other side, and it may be turned around when changing from sucking water from the hair to blowing hot air at the hair. Also disclosed is a hair dryer with an inlet port 14 at a first end for a primary air flow path, a water separator 60, a fan and motor assembly 40, 42 and a second air flow path extending from an inlet on a second end of the hair dryer (16, fig 3) to an outlet 14 on the first end. Air may be drawn through the primary air flow path or the second air flow path depending on the chosen mode.

    Abstract: A hand vacuum includes a nozzle portion at a front end of the hand vacuum having a dirty air inlet. An air flow passage extends from the dirty air inlet to a clean air outlet in a main body rearward of the nozzle portion. The main body houses a suction motor in the air flow passage. First and second laterally spaced apart opposed arm members extend between the nozzle portion and the main body, and a volume is positioned between the nozzle portion, the main body and the opposed arm members. An air treatment member assembly comprising an air treatment member is removably positionable in the volume. A pistol grip handle assembly is provided on a lower portion of the main body. The handle assembly is positioned rearward of the volume and the air treatment member assembly is removable downwardly.
