Abstract:
A method for the preparation of an aqueous stable premix containing a stannous ion releasing compound useful in the manufacture of an aqueous oral care composition containing a stable stannous ion releasing compound which comprises first dissolving the stannous compound in an aqueous solution of citric acid or its alkali metal salt to prepare the aqueous premix and then adding the premix to the vehicle of the oral care composition.
Abstract:
The invention provides antibacterial combinations of essential oils comprising bisabolol and one or more essential oils selected from citral, carvacrol, oregano extract, and rosemary, or comprising carvacrol and one or more essential oils selected from bisabolol, thymol, and rosemary, together with compositions, e.g., oral care compositions, comprising these combinations, and uses therefore.
Abstract:
The present invention relates to an oral care composition with a high water content which has improved robustness towards microbial challenge. The oral care composition includes compositions comprising from 0.125 wt% to 0.75 wt% of a water soluble source of stannous ions, wherein the composition comprises at least 50 wt% water and wherein the source of stannous ions is selected from the group consisting of stannous chloride, stannous pyrophosphate, stannous formate, stannous acetate, stannous gluconate, stannous lactate, stannous tartrate, stannous oxalate, stannous malonate, stannous citrate, stannous ethylene glyoxide, and mixtures thereof.
Abstract:
Described herein are oral care compositions comprising an antibacterial agent and a dissolvable film comprising a pigment which provide a color change signal after a sufficient period of brushing, wherein the dentifrice base has water activity less than 0.78 and comprises anionic polymer in free or salt form 10-25% by weight of the dentifrice base, and anionic surfactant less than 3% by weight; together with methods of making and using the compositions.
Abstract:
A dentifrice composition having a low water phase comprising effective amounts of polyphosphate and ionic active ingredients. The composition comprises a source of metal ions, an inorganic phosphate salt having four or more phosphorus atoms and a cross -linked polyvinylpyrrolidone thickening agent in a single phase. Preferred metal ions are stannous, copper and zinc, in particular from zinc citrate and stannous fluoride.
Abstract:
The invention encompasses combinations of bioactive glass composition and potassium salts that are useful in conjunction with delivery agent such as, for example, toothpastes, mouthwashes, and oral gels. In certain embodiments, the compositions of the invention form a rapid and continuous reaction with body fluids (e.g., saliva) to promote the immediate and long- term release of Ca and P ions to produce a stable crystalline layer deposited onto and into the dentin tubules for the immediate and long term reduction of dentin hypersensitivity and tooth surface remineralization.
