    Abstract: An indirect extrusion process, and apparatus therefor, for producing an extrusion product from a hot metal billet. A press container is mounted to be substantially axially stationary during extrusion of a billet. A hot billet, a die and a pressure disc are located into the axial throughbore of the container so that the billet is sandwiched between the die and pressure disc, with the pressure disc having a maximum outer diameter between opposite radial faces which is slightly less than the diameter of the axial throughbore to define a diametrical clearance between the pressure disc and the press container. A bolster is located adjacent the pressure disc and is axially fixed to substantially prevent axial movement of the pressure disc in a direction toward the bolster during extrusion. The bolster exerts a relatively insigificant axial force against the container. An elongated stem having an axial passage is moved into the throughbore of the container to press the die toward the bolster, causing the billet to be extruded through the die to create an extrusion product which exits the container through the axial passage in the stem, while extrusion of the billet through the diametrical clearance between the pressure disc and the container is substantially avoided.

    Abstract: 102,922. Stewart, C., and Gibson, R. Dec. 22, 1915, [Convention date]. Atmospheric gas burners.-In a gas burner for cooking-stoves, gasfires, gas-furnaces, or waterheaters, or for illuminating purposes, a part of the gaseous mixture passing through the mixing- tube is conducted from one part of the mixing-tube back to a part in line with or in advance of the outlet of the gas nipple through passages, such as external or internal by-pass tubes, or an annular passage surrounding the mixing- tube. In one form, part of the gaseous mixture is conducted from the upper part of the mixing-tube through tubes 7 to an annular tube 16, and thence through tubes 17 to the inlet end of the mixing-tube. The internal air supply is regulated by a nut 4 on the gas nipple, while the nipple is regulated by a needle valve adjusted by a screw 19. The conical end of the mixing-tube is secured by distance-pieces 13 to a ring 3 on the nipple. In a second form, the sleeve forming the annular by-pass passage fits a short tube surrounding the gas nipple and provided with air inlets.
