Abstract:
A system and method are provided for generating bit log likelihood ratio (LLR) values for two-layered Quadrature Phase-Shift Keying (QPSK) turbo decoding in a wireless communications user terminal (UT). The method includes receiving a two-layered QPSK signal with an energy ratio that is unknown, but typically defined as either k1 2 or k2 2 . The method selects a mismatched energy ratio (k

Abstract:
The claimed subject matter relates to enforcing a threshold peak to average power while reducing affects associated with saturation. This can be accomplished, for instance, by accessing a piecewise linear approximation of an ideal clipping region, wherein the ideal clipping region is based at least in part upon the threshold peak to average power ratio. Thereafter, a signal is clipped if power associated with the signal lies outside a region encompassed by the piecewise linear approximation.
Abstract:
Systems and methods are provided to process wireless data packets. A method includes determining a subset of data bits to be processed at a wireless transmitter and employing a clock edge to store the data. The clock edge allows parallel mapping of at least two bits from the subset of data bits into an interleaver memory per a given clock edge. From the memory, other encoding and scrambling processes are applied before transmitting the data packets across a wireless network.
Abstract:
Systems and methodologies are described that facilitate monitoring transmitter performance in a wireless communication environment. A metric or metrics associated with one or more pilot symbols can be generated and used to evaluate performance. To generate pilot metrics, a signal analyzer can be used to sample the output of a transmitter and the sampled signal can be propagated to a processor. The processor can generate frequency domain channel estimates for subcarriers. Average channel estimates for the subcarriers can be used with the known pilot symbols to determine noise or error for each subcarrier, which can be used to generate the noise variance for each of the pilot symbols. A pilot modulation error metric can be generated based upon the average channel estimates and noise variance.

Abstract:
Systems and methodologies are described that facilitate monitoring transmitter performance in a wireless communication environment. If the received modulation symbols are unknown during transmitter monitoring, it may be necessary to determine the modulation symbols for each subcarrier. The modulation types can be evaluated over a subset of subcarriers having a consistent modulation type, to reduce the possibility of an erroneous modulation type determination to an extremely low level. A metric can be generated for each modulation type that indicates the likelihood of a particular modulation type for the subset of subcarriers. The modulation type can be selected based upon the metric and modulation symbols consistent with the modulation type can be used for the subset of subcarriers.

The processor can generate frequency domain channel estimates for the subcarriers. If the transmitted modulation symbols are unknown, the processor can determine the modulation symbols and use the determined modulation symbols to calculate the channel estimates. The channel estimates can be averaged and used to generate various metrics to evaluate the transmitter performance.
