Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To allow the arrangement of a keypad on a data reading machine to be changed, and to change the display orientation of a display in conjunction with the arrangement to improve operability. SOLUTION: The data reading machine comprises: the movable keypad 102 that is moveable with respect to a main body; and further comprises; a keypad position sensor 106 for detecting a position of the keypad 102; and a display arrangement component 108 for changing the display orientation of the display 104 based at least in part upon the detected position of the keypad. Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To project scan lines on multiple surfaces of a product passing through a horizontal slot scanner having a single horizontal window. SOLUTION: The scan lines are projected through the single horizontal window of the slot scanner and onto multiple surfaces of a product with a bar code symbol to be electro-optically read. The symbol may be on any vertical surface of the product, as well as in any orientation on the bottom surface of the product. COPYRIGHT: (C)2005,JPO&NCIPI
Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To generate an omni-directional scan pattern having high scan line density without dead zones, especially in the upper part and the lower part of a vertical window. SOLUTION: A vertical slot scanner generates a full coverage scan pattern for reading symbols presented or moved over a vertical window. Scan lines are generated in upper and lower central regions of the window to improve scanner productivity. COPYRIGHT: (C)2005,JPO&NCIPI
Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To miniaturize a bar-code reader. SOLUTION: The scanning module is formed as a thin and flat module of low electric power consumption by reducing its size and weight. The reverse reflective optical scanning module includes a light source attached to a substrate of the scanning module and at least one reflection mirror for reflecting and reorienting the light beam for scanning along an optical path existing on at least a portion atop the module. The scanning beam is longer than the length in the side part of the module to be passed with the scanning beam during the course of heading toward a target. COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO
Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To intuitively locate articles. SOLUTION: An object locator system generates an audio signal, as if it is emanating from the object, as a user varies angular orientation and distance from an object or site to be located within an area. A computer linked to an access transceiver receives transmissions from a user wearing a headset including a transceiver and electronic compass. The compass provides a signal indicative of the user orientation. An access transceiver receives the signal, and calculates the location of the user based on the time difference of arrival of the RF signal and triangulation of the user movement. Based on the angular orientation, as well as horizontal and vertical distance of the object or site relative to the user, the computer maps the location information into sound in the form of pulse amplitude or frequency modulated sound. The audio signal is perceived by the user as emanating from the object or site. COPYRIGHT: (C)2003,JPO
Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a system and method for tracking a portable device. SOLUTION: This system for tracking a portable device may include a transmitter which transmits wireless inquiries to a plurality of portable devices and a receiver which receives replies to the inquiries from the portable devices. In addition, this system may include a memory which stores identifier data corresponding to the portable devices and a processor coupled to the memory and to the receiver, and the processor retrieves identifier data uniquely identifying a particular one of the portable devices which have generated the replies from each reply, and compares the identifier data to the stored identifier data. Furthermore, the system may include an alarm system coupled to the processor, and the alarm system is controlled based on the comparison of the stored identifier data to the identifier data retrieved from the replies.
Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To collect data used for logistics, production, health-care management, storage, education or optional business using bar-code. SOLUTION: This invention relates to a method for scanning bar-code data which can be opened to the public almost in real time on a site of the Internet or Intranet, and a device therefor. It is preferable that the format to be adopted is an XML-based one, and thereby data are prepared for electronic commerce without a further operation or conversion. The data can be converted into a more usual bar-code format to meet backward compatibility with an established bar-code scanning method. COPYRIGHT: (C)2003,JPO
Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an arrangement and a method for establishing logical relationship among peripherals in a wireless local area network, the peripherals being in communication with one another and with a system manager for managing the network by a low-output power, wireless, radio frequency, communications protocol. SOLUTION: In this arrangement, there are provided a readable identifier associated with each peripheral and a reader, for reading the identifiers associated with selected peripherals during the set-up mode of system operation; the reader has a transceiver in wireless communication with the system manager for identifying the reader and the selected peripherals, to advise the system manager of the establishment of the logical relationship.
Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an adapter unit designed generally for digital private secretaries. SOLUTION: The adapter unit designed generally for digital private secretaries has a grip, and secures additional functionality, an improvement in terms of human engineering, and an enhancement of the sturdiness to each digital private secretary.
Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a portable terminal carried by a user for radio communication with a local area network for displaying data on the basis of a physical position of a user. SOLUTION: A plurality of network nodes are arranged over the whole of a place provided for sales purpose of products such as a shopping mail and a shop. The position of the user is decided according to an access node position communicating with the terminal. The data can include purchase recommendation for the product.
