Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a small-sized electro-optic retroreflection scanning mode equipped with all necessary components and a completely built-in type. SOLUTION: This retroreflection scanning module is equipped with a base part, a 1st circuit board 416, and a 2nd circuit board 418 which is fitted almost at right angles to the 1st circuit board 416. The base part supports a light radiation body, which generates a scanning beam and an optical component which directs and converges light energy. A radiated beam reflection body reflects the light from a return mirror 212 on a reflection body fitted to a drive part for an oscillation body. The reflection body changes the direction of the beam to a mark to be read. The mark is scanned with the beam through the vibration of the reflection body. The reflected light is directed to the vibrating reflection body and made incident on a converging mirror 204, before reaching a detector 206. The detector 206 included in the module detects the light reflected from the mark scanned with the beam. The beam and the visual field of the detector 206 are scanned at the same time. Various implementation styles of vibration drive and optical arrangement are disclosed to make the scanning module small-sized.

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a single integrated circuit used in two RF transceivers and an optionally mounted auto ID reader. SOLUTION: An auto ID reader and one or two radio frequency transceivers are supported on a common support having a predetermined form factor, such as that of a scan engine module commonly utilized in hand-held bar code symbol scanners. Common digital processing circuitry is used for processing a signal from the auto ID sensor and an RF transceiver baseband signal, making a highly integrated and compact arrangement. A single Fast Fourier Transform circuit is utilized for each transceiver.

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve dual mode wireless data communications. SOLUTION: A dual mode mobile unit is arranged to communicate in either a first or second data communications standard, such as combined Bluetooth and 802.11 operation. An interface unit converts received Bluetooth or 802.11 format signals into 802.11 frame format data signals to be provided to a digital signal processor which is programmed to process signal in either standard. The dual mode mobile unit can operate in the 802.11 standard to reserve a time interval for Bluetooth activity during which other 802.11 units will avoid transmissions to avoid interference.

SOLUTION: This coma reading system is provided with plural images or scan modules oriented in various directions in respect to the object, handy reader 412, dock device 414, operator side rail, arch-shaped tunnel 416 and mirror. Besides, integrated gauges, input pad, system controller and display devices 419 and 422 ears provided as components related to a sales room facility or code reading terminal.
Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce the size and the weight of a component used for collection of reflected light by providing an integrated optical element, which includes a beam forming part and beam bending part made one-piece and a light collection part which collects reflected light to lead it to a detector, to scan and move a light beam. SOLUTION: A light beam 16 from a semiconductor laser 18 passes through a plastic lens 20 and is turned at 90 deg. by total reflection in a prism 22. It is emitted from the prism 22 and passes through an aperture 24 in a collection mirror 26 and strikes on an oscillatory scanning mirror 28. Then, an exit light beam 30 for scanning is generated and is led to indicia to be read. Reflected light 32 from a mark is first received by the oscillatory scanning mirror 28, and this mirror 28 leads it to a concave 34 of the collection mirror 26. The concave 34 focuses light on a photo detector 40 through an aperture 36 and a filter 38. The output signal of the photo detector 40 is supplied to proper electronics in a printed circuit board 14 by electric coupling 42.

PURPOSE: To provide a symbol scanning system which reads a symbol such as the bar code and suitably changes the pattern of a light beam in response to a feedback signal. CONSTITUTION: A symbol scanning system which suitably changes scanning system parameters containing the pattern and focal point of a light beam so as to improve readability of bar codes is provided with a scanner which directs the light beam toward a symbol at a prescribed position in a certain pattern in response to a coordinate control signal, detects the reflected part of the light beam, and generates the feedback signal corresponding to the detected part of the reflected light beam, a microprocessor 10 which generates a pattern control signal in response to the feedback signal, a pattern generator 20 which generates the coordinate control signal and decides a light beam pattern in response to the pattern control signal, and a signal processing circuit including a drive control unit 40A for adjusting the threshold levels of gains, band widths, and a digitizer.
Abstract:
An RF system includes a shell for holding containers which store a material that interferes with RF communications. The shell includes a bottom container supporting surface and leg extensions attached thereto; the shell extends away from the bottom surface. The tracking system also includes an RF tag attached to a first one of the leg extensions. The tag has a memory arrangement storing data relating to an identity of the shell, an identity of the containers held in the shell and/or a material stored in the containers. Furthermore, the tracking system includes a RF scanner communicating with the tag to collect the data and a computing arrangement which includes a database and communicating with the scanner to update the database as a function of the collected data. The tag is situated at a distance away from the containers to overcome an electromagnetic dampening effect of the material.
