    Abstract: An arc suppression pre-charge circuit includes a source for providing energy to a load and a main contactor selectively closed to provide energy from the source to the load, wherein the main contactor provides an alternate current path from the source to the load and bypasses a pre-charge branch of the circuit when the main contactor is closed. The pre-charge branch includes a voltage-controlled resistor and a control circuit configured to control a resistance of the voltage-controlled resistor.

    Abstract: A charge system for a vehicle includes a battery charge path, a current limiting element, and a capacitor. The current limiting element is arranged in series along the battery charge path, and in parallel relative to the capacitor. During an inrush event, the current limiting element is configured to initially restrict current flow between the battery and the load, increasing the rate and amount with which the capacitor is used to meet the current demands of the load. Thus, the current limiting element allows the battery to gradually increase its supply of current to the load in a manner that does not jeopardize its health. Once a steady state level of charging has been reached, the current limiting element is able to reduce its resistance to current flow, and the battery is able to safely take over as the primary source of current to the load.

    Abstract: A power system includes a battery charge path and capacitor charge path arranged in parallel. During an inrush event, a current limiting element restricts current flow along the battery charge path to relieve battery stress. During the inrush event, current flow between the battery and load along a bypass path is also prevented by a switch element. Under steady state charging conditions, the resistance of the current limiting element decreases, thus increasing current flow between the battery and load along the battery charge path. During steady state conditions, a switch circuit controls operation of the switch element to also allow current flow between the battery and load along the bypass path. The change in the resistance of the current limiting element and/or actuation of the switch element by the switch circuit are optionally based on changes in temperature, and are passively effectuated without requiring an external control input signal.

    Abstract: A wire assembly securement apparatus comprises a retainer body and first and second elongated arms. The retainer body is configured to attach, via a plurality of binding attachments, to a wire assembly. The first and second elongated arms are structured to extend from the retainer body and facilitate, via the plurality of binding attachments, attachment of the retainer body to the wire assembly. A retainer portion has a passage formed therein which is configured to a protrusion, such as a mounting stud. In various embodiments, first and second capture flanges extend via the passage and are configured to secure the securement apparatus to the protrusion.     Abstract: A junction box or bussed electrical centre (BEC) assembly comprising a BEC housing 12, a receptacle 46 in the BEC housing 12 in which a connector 16 may be mounted in a preset position, and a BEC 10 having a counterpart 28 for the connector mounted therein, the BEC 10 being mounted on the BEC housing 12 so that the BEC housing 12 encloses the part of the BEC 10 which supports the counterpart 28and so that, in use, the connector and counterpart are aligned, and the connector is movable from the preset position into connection with the counterpart. The connector may be latched into the BEC housing and the BEC may be provided with means to unlatch the connector before the connector is drawn onto the counterpart by a bolt. The means for unlatching the connector may be a shroud round the counterpart. Alternatively (figures 7 to 9), the shape of the latch may allow it to be disengaged by the force of moving the connector using the bolt. Installation of the BEC in a vehicle engine compartment is simplified because no access is needed to the connector 16 during coupling of the connector and the counterpart.
