Abstract: A roll-over sensing system for detecting move of passengers and a method thereof are provided to improve roll over sensing capacity by applying movement of passengers before overthrowing of the vehicle to a roll over sensor. A roll-over sensing system for detecting move of passengers comprises a roll over sensor(10), an ACU(Air-bag Control Unit)(40), and pressure sensors(30a,30b). The roll over sensor consists of a Y shaft sensor(11) detecting side impact amount of the vehicle, and a z shaft sensor(13) detecting rotation energy of the vehicle in vehicle overthrowing. The ACU develops an air bag in roll over condition by comparing the speed of Y and Z computed by integrating the side impact amount and the rotation energy with the predetermined roll over threshold. The pressure sensors, which are mounted on two sides of seats of the vehicle, detects difference of two side pressure according to movement variation of passengers before overthrowing of the vehicle. The roll over condition of the vehicle is judged by applying the speed of Y and Z and DeltaG such as the difference of the two side pressure according to the movement of passengers to each predetermined roll over threshold.
