PURPOSE: A display device and an OSD(On Screen Display) providing method thereof are provided to maintain a fixed depth of an OSD to be displayed when the depth of a 3D image is adjusted. CONSTITUTION: A depth adjusting unit(136) controls the depth of a 3D image. When the depth of the 3D image is adjusted, a controller(160) performs a control operation to maintain a fixed depth of an OSD to be displayed on a screen. An OSD inserting unit(139) generates the OSD. The OSD inserting unit inserts the generated OSD into the 3D image.

PURPOSE: A three-dimensional image converting method of an overlay area and apparatus thereof are provided to reduce audition fatigue according to 3D effect of an overlay region. CONSTITUTION: A depth map indicating perspective is generated from an inputted mono-scopic image(210). The overlay region included in the inputted mono-scopic image is detected(220). The depth value of a map is corrected in the detected overlay area(230).

PURPOSE: A display apparatus and a display method thereof are provided to efficiently manage a content which includes a text by applying a user own intention. CONSTITUTION: A display apparatus comprises a user interface part which displays a content, a storage which stores one or more hand writing pattern, and a control unit which establishes a content area coping with the hand writing area and stores the data when a hand writing corresponding to the stored hand writing pattern is inputted.

PURPOSE: A content supplying method, additional information supplying method, and display device applying the same are provided to display a first content image on a second display unit and to easily convert a bidirectional viewing mode and an isolation viewing mode about one content. CONSTITUTION: A first display unit(1150) displays an image about first content and first item. A second display unit(1155) displays an image about second content. If a select command about the first item is inputted, a control unit(1160) controls in order to display a first content image on the second display unit. A method for providing a part of a screen displayed in a display apparatus as a GUI through an electronic device and the electronic device using the same are provided to supply a part of a screen displayed in a display device to a user as a GUI through another display, thereby enabling the user to conveniently select a desired GUI item. A communication unit(180) is connected to the external device for communication. A controller(170) transfers a user command about an external device to the external device. The controller controls a part of a screen displayed in the external device to displayed on a display(140). GUI-items which the user can choose are included in a part of the screen. The display is a touch screen.

A motion estimation apparatus and a motion estimation method are provided to enable a frame interpolation unit to interpolate a new interpolation frame inserted into between a current frame and a previous frame on the basis of a final motion vector determined by a motion vector determination unit, thereby generating a motion vector near to an actual motion. A local search area definition unit(35) divides a current frame into plural blocks and defines plural local search areas for an area which has the possibility of an actual motion by using the motion vector of a previous frame in each block. A local candidate vector definition unit(37) defines a motion vector with the minimum SAD(Sum of Absolute Difference) for each local search area as a local candidate vector. A global candidate vector definition unit(31) defines plural global candidate vectors with the respective minimum SAD within right and left global search areas in the each block. A motion vector determination unit(39) determines, for each of the plural local candidate vectors and each of the plural global candidate vectors, a vector which has the minimum accumulation value calculated on the basis of an SAD value, an SWVD(Sum of Weight Vector Distance) value which reflects vector consistency, and a vector size value, as a final motion vector.

A liquid crystal display apparatus is provided to minimize motion blur by correcting a sub-frame in a pseudo-impulse type control method by using a motion vector estimated based on actual movement of moving pictures. A motion estimator(50) divides a current frame into a plurality of blocks in predetermined size, and compares the plurality of blocks with a predetermined search area which is set in the frame for estimating a motion vector of the current frame. A sub-frame constructing unit(40) constructs the current frame with a first sub-frame and a second sub-frame based on a gray scale component of the current frame. A motion compensator(60) corrects a pixel display position of the second sub-frame by using the motion vector. A panel driving unit(70) displays the first sub-frame outputted from the sub-frame constructing unit and the corrected second sub-frame outputted from the motion compensator in order.

본 발명은, 복수의 프레임 영상들을 순차적으로 표시하는 디스플레이장치의 제어방법에 관한 것으로서, 상기 복수의 프레임 영상들에서 각각의 상호 인접한 프레임 영상 간에 상흐림 발생영역과 상흐림 비발생영역을 검출하는 단계와; 상기 상흐림 발생영역에 상기 인접한 프레임 영상들의 화소값들보다 낮은 화소값을 가진 영상을 삽입하고, 상기 상흐림 비발생영역에 상기 인접한 프레임 영상들 각각의 화소값을 가진 영상들, 상기 인접한 프레임 영상들 사이의 평균화소값을 가진 영상 중 어느 하나를 삽입하여 상기 각각의 상호 인접한 프레임 영상 사이마다 중간 프레임 영상을 마련하는 단계를 포함하는 것을 특징으로 한다. 이에 의하여, 디스플레이장치에서 휘도가 감소하는 것을 방지하며 상흐림을 제거할 수 있다.
