Abstract: A prism sheet, a backlight unit using the same, and a liquid crystal display device using the same are provided to enhance a transmittance and brightness by forming an asymmetric prism pattern thereon. A prism sheet includes an asymmetric prism pattern having a shape of a trigonal prism. The trigonal prism has a first interior angle formed between a top surface and one lateral surface and a second interior angle formed between the top surface and the other lateral surface. The first interior angle is larger than the second interior angle. The first interior angle has a range of 50 to 90 degrees. A backlight unit includes a light source(100), a light guide panel(200) for guiding light from a light source, and a first prism sheet(600) and a second prism sheet arranged on an top surface of the light guide panel. The first and second prism sheets have asymmetric prism patterns(610,710) of the trigonal prisms having the first interior angle larger than the second interior angle.
