A connector and a communication method thereof are provided to make a network between apparatuses that a user wants among a plurality of network apparatuses by a more convenient method. A cable connection unit(110) is connected to a cable through which a signal of the first network apparatus(300) is transmitted. An apparatus connection unit(120) is connected to the second network apparatus. A communication unit(130) performs communication between the first and second network apparatuses. A control unit(140) controls the communication unit to transmit a signal to the second network apparatus.

A method for displaying content information and a video apparatus adopting the same are provided to offer content such as web pages to even a user who does not know a URL(Uniform Resource Locator), thereby improving convenience of the user. If data are received through a communication interface, a controller determined whether the data are mail messages(S320). If the data are mail messages, the controller controls a content information generator to generate content information by transmitting the received data to the content information generator(S330). The controller determined whether the content information display command is input(S340). If the content information display command is input, a video apparatus displays a content information list(S350). The controller determines whether a content display command corresponding to specific content information is input(S360). IF the content display command is input, the controller generates a content request message and transmits the content request message to a content provider through the communication interface(S370). The video apparatus receives content from the content provider, and then displays the content(S380).

A method and a device for managing contents with an RUI are provided to provide and use contents among a plurality of RUI servers controlled by an RUI client in which a separate protocol or application is not applied. A request receiver(822) receives a contents request from the RUI client(81) through the RUI provided from a first RUI server(82). An access information transferor(824) transfers access information for the contents to a second RUI server(83). A transfer request receiver receives a contents transfer request from the second RUI receiving the access information. A contents transferor(826) transfers the contents to the second RUI server according to the contents transfer request. A key value receiver(823) receives a key value, which represents that the contents are requested from the device, from a control device. A key value transferor(825) transfers the received key value to the second RUI server. The key value includes at least one of an IP(Internet Protocol) or MAC(Media Access Control) address.

A method and an apparatus for managing contents are provided to enable a client, who is not able to receive the contents through direct access to a contents server, to receive the contents through the other device within the same network, thereby maximizing the share of the contents. A method for managing contents comprises the following steps of: receiving information about the contents through RSS(Really Simple Syndication) feed provided from a contents server(61) outside a home network having the contents(602); updating the list of the contents which a first device(62) can provide through the home network on the basis of the received information(603); and transmitting the updated list to a second device(63)(604). The list of the contents is the contents list of a CDS(Content Directory Service) according to an UPnP(Universal Plug and Play) AV(Audio/Video) architecture.

A method for guiding a broadcasting program and a method for recording the broadcasting program by using the same are provided to conveniently record the broadcasting program by using viewing rate information and EPG(Electronic Program Guide) information. A request for EPG information is transmitted to an EPG service server, and the EPG information is received(226). A request for viewing rate information is transmitted to a viewing rate service server, and the viewing rate information is received(236). The received EPG information and the viewing rate information are analyzed to perform mapping between the EPG information and the viewing rate information(246). An image is generated using the mapped EPG information to display the image on a screen.

Abstract:
A method for using information on the time when reproduction of media contents is stopped under an UPnP(Universal Plug and Play) environment is provided to use incessantly corresponding contents in other place or at other time by using information on the time when reproduction of content at plural devices is stopped. A method for using information on the time when reproduction of media contents comprises the following several steps. If a media server receives a request for media contents from a media renderer, the media server transmits the media contents to the media renderer(S702). If a signal for stopping reproduction of the media content is transmitted to the media renderer while the media server is transmitting the media contents, the media renderer cancels connection to the media server or transmits a transmission stopping signal to the media server(S704). The media server adds information on the stopped time to meta data on the media contents which was being transmitted(S706). The media server receives a request for the media contents again(S708). The media server determines whether to reproduce the media contents from the time that information stored in the meta data indicates or from the start point(S712). In case there exists information on the time when reproduction of the contents is stopped or a user who stopped reproduction of the content tries to reproduces the content again, the media server transmits the media contents from the stopped time(S720). In case there exists no information on the stopped time or the user is not a person who stopped reproduction of the media content, the media server transmits the media contents from the start point(S730).

본 발명은 범용 플러그 앤 플레이 통신 방법 및 장치에 관한 것으로 본 발명의 실시예에 따른 범용 플러그 앤 플레이 통신 방법은 통신 장치가 자신이 속한 네트워크에서 동적 호스트 구성 프로토콜 서버의 존재 여부의 변화를 확인하는 단계, 동적 호스트 구성 프로토콜 서버의 존재 여부에 변화가 있는 경우 자신이 사용하던 인터넷 프로토콜 주소를 변화된 환경에 적합한 방식에 의해 할당된 인터넷 프로토콜 주소로 변경하는 단계 및 변경된 인터넷 프로토콜 주소를 다른 통신 장치에게 전달하는 단계를 포함한다. 본 발명에 따르면 동적 호스트 구성 프로토콜 서버의 존재 여부의 변화를 감지한 범용 플러그 앤 플레이 통신 장치들이 변화된 환경에 따라 인터넷 프로토콜 주소를 변경하는 과정에서 발생하는 통신 두절 시간을 감소시킬 수 있다.
