Abstract: An optical information storing medium and an optical information recording/reproducing apparatus are provided to maintain consistency with a different kind of a recording medium by causing a data recording/modulating method in a part of a lead-in area and a data recording/modulating method in a user data area to coincide with a recording/modulating method of a recordable optical information storing medium. An optical information storing medium includes a lead-in area, a user data area and a lead-out area. Information data, which is not changed for the same physical format, is recorded in the whole lead-in area or a part of the lead-in area. A data recording/modulating method in the lead-in area is different from a data recording/modulating method in remaining areas. The area where the information data not changed for the same physical format is recorded is an area where information related to the optical information storing medium is recorded.
