Abstract: PURPOSE: A CDMA(Code Division Multiple Access) system using DPCM(Differential Pulse Code Modulation) is provided to minimize power consumption and hardware complexity by using a DPCM encoder and a corresponding decoder respectively for a transmitter and a receiver in the case of embodying a system using a forward channel and multi-code CDMA in a mobile system or a plurality of orthogonal spreading codes. CONSTITUTION: A CDMA modulator in a CDMA transmitter using DPCM spreads Tx data using a plurality of orthogonal spreading codes and obtains the sum of the spread signals.
