A cable head end system and an operation method thereof for improving the signal quality are provided to reduce a channel up converter and a combiner by reducing cost of system and deterioration of the signal qualification. A cable head end system comprises a plurality of modulators(100), a multiple channel up converter(200), and an electric-optic converter(300). A modulator weighs the received signal with the cable broadcasting signal with the digital modulation. The multiple channel up converter up-converts signals which are digital modulated with a plurality of modulators. The multiple channel up converter unites the up-converted signals. The electric-optic converter converts the output signal of the multiple channel up converter into the optical signal.

The present invention properly updates a key in various situations in order to secure liability of a service in a conditional access system for a digital cable television service. A method for updating a key in a conditional access system of a digital cable television service includes the step of receiving a request of changing service from a point of deployment (POD) module of subscriber having bidirectional or simplex receiver, changing a service at the head/end and sending an entitlement management message (EMM) having a changed key from the head/end to the point of deployment (POD) module.

CONSTITUTION: An integrated processing apparatus for a remote entitlement processing module comprises the following: a remote entitlement processing module server(120) managing RSC(remote smart cards)(121-124) corresponding to the number of host terminals(200a-200d); and descramblers(210a-201d) transmitting channel selection information to the remote entitlement processing module server by the paid channel selection of a user, and descrambling encrypted channel signals using a received control signal. The remote entitlement processing module server and the descramblers form a secure channel.
