Abstract: A method and an apparatus for upgrading a limited reception system in digital cable broadcasting are provided to enable a headend to transmit a limited reception system upgrade message to a cable card directly, thereby solving a problem that manpower and time is wasted when the program of the cable card is upgraded. 본 발명은, 디지털 케이블 방송 시스템에 있어서의 케이블 모뎀을 이용한 방송 데이터 수신 장치로서, 입력 신호를 복조하고 방송 데이터 및 방송 부가 데이터를 분리하여 출력하기 위한 케이블 모뎀; 및 상기 케이블 모뎀으로부터 출력된 방송 데이터를 다른 입력원으로부터 입력된 방송 데이터와 다중화하여 외부의 케이블 카드로 출력하기 위한 다중화부를 포함함.
