PURPOSE: A communication method between a base station and a terminal is provided to obtain a receiving diversity and an MRC(Maximal-Ratio Combining) effect by using a multiple input multiple output method. CONSTITUTION: Data including an error correction code is transmitted to a terminal based on the type of a base station. The type of the base station is determined by the various parameter which is used by the base station. The base station differentiates the data and the data transmission period which is determined by the type of the base station. The base station creates signal by the type of each base station and transmits the signal to a signal receiving part.

An apparatus and a method for equalizing the reception channel in an OFDM(Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiplexing) transmission system and a DMB(Digital Multimedia Broadcasting) receiving apparatus applying the same are provided to improve the performance of mobile reception in a transmission system in which pilot signal is not used. A channel estimator(520) estimates channel as a symbol unit with the reference signal received from the standard signal creation part(550). A channel filtering part(530) removes the noises of the presumed channel value. A channel equalization part(540) equalizes the channel by using the estimation channel value. The channel estimator estimates the PRS(Phase Reference Symbol) of the received frame by the reference signal.

PURPOSE: A transmitting/receiving method and device for a digital multimedia broadcasting is provided to offer high quality service in high speed movement by applying the OFDM-CDMA transmission technique to the digital multimedia broadcasting system. CONSTITUTION: The pilot signal is generated by mapping the transferred information with the orthogonal code(S610). The pilot signal is diffused to the frequency domain(S630). The expanded pilot signal is modulated and transmitted. The transferred information comprises the transmission parameter for demodulating the received signal by the receiving device. The pilot signal is reiterated and inserted in a plurality of subcarriers.

An apparatus and a method for receiving a signal in a digital broadcasting system are provided to improve a reception rate of a signal by applying a diversity method. A plurality of symbol estimation modules(210) receives a plurality of frequency multiplexing signals and outputs a first hierarchical estimation symbol row and a plurality of second hierarchical estimation symbol rows. A signal processor(220) diversity-signal-processes the plurality of second hierarchical estimation symbol rows and outputs the diversity signal. A first hierarchical symbol demapping unit(230) demaps the first hierarchical estimation symbol row and outputs the first hierarchical estimation demapping signal. A second hierarchical symbol demapping unit(240) demaps the diversity signal and outputs the second hierarchical symbol demapping signal. A first hierarchical decoder(250) channel-decodes the first hierarchical symbol demapping signal and outputs the first hierarchical decoding signal. A receiving apparatus and a synchronization detecting method for detecting synchronization more accurately are provided to detect starting point of sampling and a starting point of a frame by using receiving signal corresponding to a sampling interval and a phase reference signal. A signal detection unit(110) detects the null signal and phase reference signal from the received signal. A synchronization detector(120) detects the first start time point of frame by using the null signal. A plurality of first delay taps corresponding to a plurality of coefficient of correlations determined by the phase reference signal and the second delay tap corresponding to the sampling period ringed with over sample are used. The second start time point of frame is detected from the first start time point.

PURPOSE: An apparatus and a method for selecting an optimum beam in a digital TV(Television) receiver are provided to select an optimum beam having an optimum channel characteristic among a plurality of beams formed by a selection type beam-forming unit, thereby enhancing a reception performance of the digital TV. CONSTITUTION: A correlation unit(220) obtains correlation values between field sink signals of respective beams and a predetermined field sink signal, wherein respective beams are selected of a plurality of beams outputted from a selection type beam-forming unit. A channel profile extraction unit(230) extracts multi-paths channel profiles of respective beams using the correlation values, respectively. An effective signal path search unit(240) obtains the number of effective signal paths based on the channel profiles, wherein each of the effective signal paths has path size over a predetermined critical value. A beam selection unit(250) selects an optimum beam among the plurality of beams outputted from the selection type beam-forming unit, wherein the optimum beam has a channel profile having the fewest effective signal paths.
