Abstract: The present invention relates to a multi-junction thermal converter for accurately measuring an AC (alternating current) current, more particularly, to a multi-junction thermal converter having a high output voltage and a rated input current in which a user can easily design, and a method of operating the same. The multi-junction thermal converter according to an embodiment of the present invention includes: a signal input unit to receive an AC current to be measured; a heater to generate heat by receiving the AC current from the signal input unit; a plurality of glass beads electrically insulated from the heater to transfer the heat generated from the heater to an exterior; a plurality of thermocouples to convert the heat transferred from the glass beads to a voltage and to output the converted voltage; and a shunt resistor connected in parallel to the heater to increase a rated input current. The rated input current is supplied to the heater and the shunt resistor, and each of the glass beads are connected to each of the thermocouples, respectively. Output terminals of the thermocouples may be serially connected.
