    Abstract: A method for collecting mobile communication status information by using a telematics terminal is provided to easily find the cause of an error by storing the logging of messages, transmitted and received through a wireless channel, in a telematics terminal and analyzing the stored data in order to measure the communication quality of a mobile communication network. Power is supplied to a telematics terminal(S10), a modem of the telematics terminal receives and responds to the messages transmitted and received through an external wireless channel(S20). At this moment, the telematics terminal collects and stores the essential parameter values to measure the communication quality of a mobile communication network among the messages transmitted and received through the modem(S30). Then, if a road guide request for a specific POI(Point Of Interest) is transmitted to the telematics terminal(S40), the telematics terminal executes road guidance, and stores the collected data together with associated coordinate values(S50). In case a collected information request message is received from the outside in the middle of collecting status information to measure the communication quality(S60). The telematics terminal transmits the previously collected/stored information to a vehicle information center through the mobile communication network together with coordinate values(S70).
