    Abstract: PURPOSE: An installation apparatus for a bumper of a vehicle is provided to protect a pedestrian safely by minimizing projection of the bumper after absorbing impact with absorbing impact energy and restricting deformation of a side frame. CONSTITUTION: A bumper mounting device of a vehicle is composed of bumper stays(5,5') fixed in both ends of a back beam(2); first and second buffer chambers(12,13) formed in the end of a side member and penetrated to slide bumper stays; first springs(14,14') wound on the bumper stays of the first buffer chamber; a second buffer unit(15) installed in the second buffer chamber to absorb impact opposite to the first spring; and levers(19,19') supported in the second buffer chamber by a pin and contacted to the ends of the bumper stays and the second buffer unit. Impact is absorbed efficiently with offsetting shock by compressing the second spring opposite to the first spring, and safety is improved with preventing deformation.

CONSTITUTION: A shock absorbing apparatus for a bumper(1) is composed of a side member having a front space part(111); a pinion(120) rotated and installed in the side member; a stay horizontally fixed in the rear part of the bumper with a rack(131) engaged with the pinion; a leaf spring(140) installed in the rear part of the space part of the side member and elastically wound on the pinion to absorb impact energy of the stay; and an impact absorbing plate(150) installed in the middle of the space part and pressed and crushed in the end of the stay to absorb remaining impact from the stay. Deformation of the vehicle body is reduced absorbing shock by the leaf spring and the impact absorbing plate.

A boss(11) is formed at the center of both overlapped portions and inserted into a hole(21) of the fender panel when the bumper cover is combined. In the structure, the bumper cover is directly installed in a vehicle body and combining force is stronger than before.
