Abstract:
A digital painting process provides computer-controlled finishing of dental articles. The process can selectively apply different materials over portions of a dental article in one or more layers to achieve a multi-chromatic finish having a variety of colors, finishes, and surface properties that closely match the appearance and function of human dentition.
Abstract:
A wound dressing material comprises a porous flexible foam core, a wound-contact scrim, and an antimicrobial layer. The wound-contact scrim comprises water-sensitive fibers comprising a copolymer comprising divalent hydroxyethylene monomer units and divalent dihydroxybutylene monomer units. The antimicrobial layer is sandwiched between the porous flexible foam core and the wound-contact scrim. The wounds dressing material may be contacted with an exposed surface of a wound. A method of making the wound dressing material is also disclosed.
Abstract:
An article. The article includes a polymer foam having a first major surface and a second major surface; and discrete domains of a therapeutic composition at least partially surrounded by the polymer foam; wherein an exterior surface of each discrete domain substantially conforms to a portion of the first major surface of the polymer foam; wherein the article comprises a first major surface and a second major surface; and wherein a portion of the first major surface of the polymer foam and the exterior surfaces of discrete domains form the first major surface of the article.
Abstract:
A method of using hardenable dental articles. The method can include placing a film (30) onto a dental structure (40) to cover at least a portion of the dental structure (40); providing a hardenable dental article (10); and applying the hardenable dental article (10) to the dental structure (40) covered by the film (30).
Abstract:
The disclosed support device includes a contained cushioning element, which allowing for cleaning of the support device but limiting absorption of fluid into the cushioning element. The support device comprises a backing layer, a cushioning element, and a base layer. The backing layer comprises a first surface and second surface, opposite the first surface, wherein the backing layer is highly moisture vapor permeable and the first surface of the backing layer is liquid water impermeable. The cushioning element is positioned adjacent the second surface of the backing layer. The base layer comprises a first surface adjacent the cushioning element and a second surface, opposite the first surface of the cushioning element. The base layer is highly moisture vapor permeable. The base layer is entirely contiguous. The second surface of the base layer comprises an adhesive. The base layer and backing layer connect entirely around the cushioning element.
Abstract:
A medical sealant composition and method for coupling the medical article to skin using the medical sealant composition. The medical sealant composition can include an unsaturated rubber hydrocarbon having at least one hydrosilylation-crosslinkable functional group and a crosslinking agent having at least one SiH group per molecule. The medical sealant composition can cure at 35 degrees C in less than 20 minutes. The method can include applying the composition to one or both of a medical article and skin when the composition is in an uncured state; applying the medical article to the skin; and allowing the composition to cure to form a sealant between the medical article and the skin.
Abstract:
A securement assembly is disclosed that uses a combination of adhesive as well as mechanical fasteners for effectively securing a device to a surface. The securement assembly can be used to protect the surface from the device being secured. The securement assembly comprises an adhering element with a first mechanical fastener and a securing element with a second mechanical fastener, wherein the securing element can serve as both a cover for the adhesive on the adhering element while also providing the securement between the first mechanical fastener and second mechanical fastener.
Abstract:
Curable dental compositions, dental articles, and methods of making or using such compositions or articles are described. In one embodiment, the curable dental restoration composition comprises a resin system comprising a free-radically polymerizable semi-crystalline resin having a molecular weight no greater than 2000 g/mole and at least 50 wt-% of nanocluster filler.
Abstract:
Methods of fabricating a dental restoration from dental mill blanks that further comprise a dental implant abutment integrated therein are described. Also described are dental mill blanks and dental prosthesis articles and methods of making dental mill blanks.
Abstract:
A dental article such as a crown is fabricating by layering one or more preformed shells of SMC material onto an understructure. The understructure may be fabricated from any suitably strong material for use in replacing dentition. At the same time, a number of SMC shells may be used to provide a finished dental article having a natural-looking, multi-chromatic appearance. The SMC material(s) may be cured to provide an exterior hardness suitable for use in dental applications.
