    Abstract: The present invention relates to a resistive superconducting current limiter with a meandering shape. This current limiter avoids current density peaks at the turning points (12) or corners of the conductor track (10, 11) in that the central path of the fault current when limiting occurs is artificially increased by appropriate design of the turning points. For this purpose, conductor material is removed in the region of the inner edge of the turning points (13), or the electrical bypass is reinforced at its outer edge (14).

    Abstract: The present invention relates to a device for terminating cables (1), particularly for underwater termination of high voltage power cable and for conducting high voltage conductors in an electrical underwater apparatus, with the purpose of providing a liquid and water tight termination, at the same time as it provides pressure relief for vital components. According to this it is suggested that: each high voltage conductor (phase) (2a, 2b, 2c) is terminated in a separate, liquid filled and pressure compensated interior chamber (7a, 7b, 7c); conduction of the high voltage conductor from each interior chamber into attached electrical apparatus is carried out by means of a solid electrical conductor (10a, 10b, 10c), said conductor being fixed in an insulation material (11) which is liquid and gas tight, the solid electrical conductor and insulation material forming a gas and liquid tight barrier between the cable conductor and attached apparatus, and all interior chambers (7a, 7b, 7c) are adapted to a common, liquid filled and pressure compensated outer chamber (4).

    Abstract: A ring (4) of pref. Sm-Co magnetic material recessed in a housing (5) of austenitic steel in the wall of the turbine casing (1) is divided into three sections (7a-7c) with alternate polarity of magnetisation. The end (8) of each blade (2) is covered with a plate (3) of approximately rhombic form from the radial aspect, with acute-angled edges parallel to the direction of rotation. The plate is mfd. advantageously of Al whose good electrical conductivity favours the induction of eddy currents and damping of vibrations.

    Abstract: In order to limit overload currents in electric lines, caused by a short circuit for instance, the invention calls for a current limiter to be inserted in the electric line to limit the overload current to a given multiple of the nominal current. The simple, compactly designed current limiter has, disposed on each side of a disc-shaped insulator (1), a composite conductor made up of a high-temperature superconductor (3, 3') and a normal conductor (4, 4') connected flat against each other to give good electrical contact. Between the composite conductors and the insulator (1) is a chemically insulating buffer layer (2) made of 2-.mu.m-thick silver. Either the superconductor side or the normal-conductor side of the superconductor makes flat contact with the insulator (1). The electrical resistance of the shunt (4, 4) should not be greater than that of the superconductor (3, 3') connected to it. Each composite conductor is meander-shaped in design and electrically connected so that the current in adjacent strips of the composite conductor flows in opposite directions.
