    Abstract: This disclosure relates to techniques for configuring listen before talk and short control signaling in unlicensed spectrum in a wireless communication system. A wireless device may establish a wireless link with a cellular base station on a cell in unlicensed spectrum. The wireless device may receive listen-before-talk configuration information, where the listen-before-talk configuration information indicates whether listen-before-talk is configured for the wireless link. The wireless device may receive short control signaling configuration information, where the short control signaling configuration information indicates whether short control signaling is enabled for one or more types of control signaling. The wireless device may perform short control signaling with the cellular base station on the wireless link when short control signaling is enabled. The short control signaling performed between the cellular base station and the wireless device may include either or both of uplink transmissions or downlink transmissions.

    Abstract: Apparatuses, systems, and methods for performing dual active protocol stack handovers in a frequency range above 24GHz. A UE may transmit an indication to a base station indicating a dual active protocol stack (DAPS) handover capability of the UE corresponding to a frequency range (FR) above 24GHz. The UE may receive, from a target cell of the one or more cells, a command to perform a DAPS handover from a source cell to the target cell. While performing the DAPS handover and maintaining a data connection with the source cell, the UE may perform measurements on the target cell followed by a physical random access channel (PRACH) procedure. The UE may then receive a source cell release command from the target cell and release the data connection with the source cell.

    Abstract: A network may transmit either beam deployment information or beam number information to a user equipment (UE) carried on a train and configured for operation in the millimeter wave band. The deployment information may include deployment related distance parameters or azimuth angle spread parameters. The beam number information may indicate a number of network beams associated with a current cell. The UE may determine a number of UE receive beams based on deployment information or the network-indicated number of network beams. The UE may transmit feedback to the network, indicating the number of UE receive beams. Alternatively, the network may send a configuration message indicating a first number of UE receive beams to the UE, which the UE may treat as an upper bound or lower bound in its determination of a desired number of UE receive beams. The UE may transmit the desired number to the network.

    Abstract: Some aspects include an apparatus, method, and computer program product for beamforming to perform received signal strength indicator (RSSI) measurements in a 5G wireless communications system. This beamforming may apply to RSSI measurements in an unlicensed spectrum. In some aspects, user equipment (UE) may use beam sweeping to analyze multiple received beams and to determine an RSSI measurement. When using beam sweeping, network nodes may use scheduling and/or measurement restrictions to avoid data collisions. These restrictions may apply to multiple active serving cells. In some aspects, a UE may use beam selection to determine an RSSI measurement. For example, the UE may select one or more beams from a serving component carrier (CC). In some aspects, a network node may indicate to the UE which beams to use for the RSSI measurement. In some aspects, the UE may use a frequency domain resource to perform the RSSI measurement.

    Abstract: A user equipment (UE), or other network device with a base station (e.g., next generation NodeB) can operate to configure a layer 1 (L1) /layer 2 (L2) -centric inter-cell mobility in handover operations to improve latency and efficiency. Candidate cell configurations corresponding to different candidate cells for a layer 1 (L1) /layer 2 (L2) -centric inter-cell mobility and a network indication /condition can be communicated via a first L1 communication, a first L2 communication, or an L1 inter-cell dynamic scheduling downlink control information (DCI). The UE can thus trigger a cell change of the L1 /L2-centric inter-cell mobility to a target cell in response to a threshold being satisfied that is associated with the network indication or the network condition.
