Abstract:
A methodology for determining a periodicity of a neighbor cell search for a cellular mobile device is disclosed. The neighbor cell searches may be conducted during discontinuous reception (DRX) paging cycles. However, instead of performing a neighbor cell search during each DRX paging cycle, the period for performing a neighbor cell search may be adaptively determined. Various metrics may be used in determining the periodicity for neighbor cell searches. In various embodiments, two or more metrics may be utilized in combination to determine the neighbor cell search periodicity.
Abstract:
Apparatuses, systems, and methods for providing downlink control for non coherent joint transmission. A cellular base station may provide downlink control information associated with a non coherent joint transmission downlink data communication to a wireless device, which may receive the downlink control information. The downlink control information may be provided as a single downlink control information including scheduling information for two data streams of the non coherent joint transmission data communication, or a portion of a multi-stage downlink control information transmission. The wireless device may receive the non coherent joint transmission downlink data communication based at least in part on the downlink control information.

Abstract:
Apparatuses, systems, and methods for a wireless device to perform substantially concurrent communications with a next generation network node and a legacy network node. The wireless device may be configured to stablish a first wireless link with a first cell according to a RAT, where the first cell operates in a first system bandwidth and establish a second wireless link with a second cell according to a RAT, where the second cell operates in a second system bandwidth. Further, the wireless device may be configured to perform uplink activity for both the first RAT and the second RAT by TDM uplink data for the first RAT and uplink data for the second RAT if uplink activity is scheduled according to both the first RAT and the second RAT.

Abstract:
Apparatuses, systems, and methods for a wireless device and base station transmitting and/or receiving request to send (RTS) and clear to send (CTS) messages in 5G New Radio. The RTS/CTS messages may be comprised within a single self-contained mini slot. The RTS/CTS message design may provide for link adaptation and/or beamforming.
Abstract:
A method and apparatus to improve the robustness of a wireless communication link between a base station and a mobile communication device. The method increases power selectively on portions of an uplink communication signal transmitted from the mobile communication device to the base station. The method monitors a quality metric value at the mobile communication device and sets the transmit power level of the first portion of an uplink communication signal to the first power level, if the monitored quality metric value is in a first range of quality values, or sets the transmit power level of the first portion of the uplink communication signal to a second power level, if the monitored quality metric value is in a second range of quality values. The first portion of the uplink communication signal includes control signals used by a base station to maintain connection of the wireless communication link.
Abstract:
Apparatuses, systems, and methods for a wireless device to perform methods for configuring a power savings signal in fifth generation (5G) new radio (NR) networks. The wireless device may transmit, to a base station within a network, power savings requirements and receiving, from the base station, a configuration of a power saving signal, where the configuration indicates one or more functionalities of the power saving signal. The wireless device may periodically receive, from the base station, the power saving signal and interpret the power saving signal based on the configuration. The configuration of the power saving signal may be received via radio resource control signaling.
Abstract:
Apparatuses, systems, and methods to dynamically indicate preference for self-contained slots and slot duration by a user equipment device (UE) in communication with a base station (e.g., a gNB) using a 5G NR radio access technology. A UE may determine to send an indication to a gNB indicating a preference for self-contained slots and slot duration for downlink and/or uplink communications utilizing one or more of the physical downlink control channel (PDCCH), the physical downlink shared channel (PDSCH), and/or acknowledgement messaging (ACK/NACK) for downlink communications, and utilizing one or more of the physical uplink control channel (PUCCH), the PDCCH, and/or the physical uplink shared channel (PUSCH) for uplink communications. The configuration of self-contained slots and slot duration for uplink and/or downlink may be based on one or more of average packet size, average packet rate, traffic type and UE processing capabilities.
