Abstract: Hydrocyanation of olefinically unsaturated nitriles in the presence of a zero-valent nickel catalyst comprises performing the reaction in the presence of a hydrocarbon that forms a catalyst-rich phase and a catalyst-lean phase. An independent claim is also included for separating adiponitrile from a mixture comprising adiponitrile and a zero-valent nickel catalyst by means of a hydrocarbon with a b. pt. of 90-140[deg]C.
