Abstract: A process for separating, by means of a selective solvent, a mixture of C4-hydrocarbons which contains some hydrocarbons which are more soluble in the selective solvent and some which are less soluble therein, in which process the hydrocarbon mixture is separated, in an extractive distillation zone, into a top product which contains the less soluble hydrocarbons and an extract which contains the more soluble hydrocarbons and the selective solvent, the extract, taken off as the bottom product, is subjected to a flash evaporation and the resulting vapor component of the extract is recycled to the extractive distillation zone while the liquid phase remaining after the flash evaporation is fed to a solvent recovery zone, in which the liquid phase obtained from the flash evaporation is separated into a product containing the hydrocarbons and, as the bottom product, the selective solvent which has been freed from the hydrocarbons, the resulting selective solvent is recycled to the extractive distillation zone and the product which is obtained from the solvent recovery zone and contains the hydrocarbons is partially or completely recycled to the extractive distillation zone, after increasing the pressure in a compression zone, in which process the extract taken off the extractive distillation zone is brought, prior to the flash evaporation to a higher pressure than the pressure in the extractive distillation zone and thereafter the extract which is under this higher pressure is heated, in a heat exchange zone, by indirect heat exchange with the selective solvent obtained as the bottom product from the solvent recovery zone, and the heated extract is subsequently let down, in the flash evaporation, to a pressure which is at least equal to the pressure in the extractive distillation zone and is higher than the pressure in the solvent recovery zone.

Abstract: O.Z. 0050/033,898 A process for simultaneously removing water and hydrogen sulfide from gases containing both of these by treating the gases, in an absorption zone under superatmospheric pressure, with polyethylene glycol dialkyl ethers as a solvent, stripping the hydrogen sulfide from the loaded solvent, obtained from the absorption zone, in a desorption zone, removing the water, taken up in the absorption zone, from the solvent and recycling the regenerated solvent to the absorption zone, wherein the solvent additionally contains from 0.01 to 20% by weight, based on the solvent mixture, of an alcohol or ether boiling in the range from 50 to 140.degree.C.

Abstract: A process for obtaining isobutene from a C4-hy-drocarbon mixture containing isobutene, which comprises (a) reacting the mixture with a primary C3- or C4-alcohol in the presence of an ion exchanger in its acid form as a condensing agent to form the corresponding C3- or C4-alkyl tert.-butyl ether by feeding the primary C3- or C4-alcohol and the C4-hydro-carbon mixture, with or without prior mixing, to an etherification reaction zone which contains the ion exchanger; (b) distilling the reaction mixture obtained from the etherification reaction zone in a first distillation zone, taking off as the top product without water washing a C4-hydrocarbon mixture comprising the unconverted hydrocarbons such top product being substantially free from isobutene and the primary C3- or C4-al-cohol and taking off as the bottom product the resulting C3or C4-alkyl tert.-butyl ether, which may contain therein primary C3- or C4-alcohol which may have been added in excess; (c) feeding the bottom product to a second reaction zone, containing an acid catalyst, in which the C3- or C4-alkyl tert.-butyl ether is decomposed at an elevated temperature to give isobutene and primary C3- and C4-alcohol; (d) feeding the mixture of isobutene and primary C3- and C4-alcohol produced in step (c) to a second distillation zone, taking off as the top product isobutene and as the bottom product the remaining C3- or C4-alcohol produced in step (c); and (e) recyoling the primary C3- or C4-alcohol which is the bottom product of step (d) to the etherification reaction zone.

Abstract: C02 and/or H2S are removed from gases which contain C02 and/or H2S by means of an aqueous absorption liquid containing an alkanolamine, by a process wherein the said gas is treated, in an absorption stage, at from 40 to 100.degree.C, with an aqueous absorption liquid containing from 20 to 70% by weight of methyldiethanolamine, the treated gas is taken off at the top of the absorption stage, the aqueous absorption liquid laden with C02 and/or H2S is taken off at the bottom of this stage and is regenerated by being let down in two or more flash stages, and the final flash stage is operated under reduced pressure and the regenerated absorption liquid is recycled to the absorption stage.

Abstract: 1. A process for removing CO2 and/or H2 S from a gas containing CO2 and/or H2 S by washing the gas with an aqueous alkanolamine-containing absorption liquid and subsequently regenerating the latter, wherein the aqueous absorption liquid used contains from 3 to 60% by weight of methyldiethanolamine and from 1 to 50% by weight of monoethanolamine, processes with two absorption stages arranged in series, in which regeneration of the laden absorption liquid is carried out using two flash stages and a stripping zone, to the extent they utilize an absorption liquid containing from 0.05 to 1 mole of monoethanolamine per litre, being excluded.
