Abstract: The present invention provides a flowable material container assembly having a membrane tube disposed coaxially within a port tube. The membrane tube has an outer layer, a core layer, and an inner layer. The outer layer is a blend of a polyolefin and a thermoplastic elastomer. The core layer is a blend of a polyolefin and a thermoplastic elastomer. The inner layer is a blend of a polyolefin, a radio frequency susceptible polymer, and a thermoplastic elastomer.

The method includes the steps of: (1) providing a material selected from the group consisting of ethylene homopolymers and ethylene copolymers, wherein the ethylene copolymers are obtained by copolymerizing ethylene with a comonomer selected from the group consisting of lower alkyl olefins, lower alkyl esters of a carboxylic acid and lower alkene esters of a carboxylic acid, the lower alkyl and lower alkene each have from 3-18 carbons, or blends thereof; (2) providing an extruder with an extrusion die; (3) extruding the material into a medical tubing; (4) providing a surface modifier solution; (5) preheating the surface modifier solution to a temperature within the range of 50-80° C.; and (6) applying the preheated solution onto the tubing at it exits the extrusion die when the tubing is in a molten state or a semi-molten state.

Abstract: The present invention provides a method of using a medical tubing with a pump for administering measured amounts of a beneficial fluid over time to a patient comprising the steps of providing a tubing having a first layer selected from the group consisting of ethylene homopolymers and ethylene copolymers, wherein the copolymers of ethylene are an ethylene monomer copolymerized with at least one monomer selected from the group consisting of lower alkyl olefins, lower alkyl esters of a carboxylic acid, and lower alkene esters of a carboxylic acid, the lower alkyl and lower alkene having from 3 to 18 carbons, the tubing having been exposed to a sterilization dosage of radiation of from about 15 to about 45 kGys; and pumping fluid through the tubing with the pump.

Abstract: Una intubación médica para utilizarse con una bomba para administración de cantidades medidas de un fluido beneficioso a una paciente por un período de tiempo, caracterizado porque comprende:Una pared lateral de la intubación que tiene una primera capa seleccionada del grupo formado por homopolímeros de etileno y copolímeros de etileno, en la cual los copolímeros de etileno son formados por etileno copolímerizado con un monómero seleccionado del grupo formado por oleafinas de alquilo inferior que tienen de 3-10 átomos de carbono, ésteres de alquilo inferior de un ácido carboxílico, el alquilo inferior con 3-10 átomos de carbono, y ésteres de alqueno inferior de un ácido carboxílico, el alqueno inferior con 3-10 átomos de carbono, la pared lateral que tiene un índice de flujo de fusión de menos de 5,0 g/10 minutos;Donde la intubación se expuso a una dosis esterilizantes de radiación de 15 45 kGy.2Un método de fabricación de una intubación para utilizarse con una bomba para la administración de cantidades medidas de un fluido beneficioso a un paciente por un período de tiempo de acuerdo con la reivindicación 1 caracterizado porque los pasos de:proporcionar un material polimérico seleccionado del grupo formado por homopolímeros de etileno y copolímeros de etileno, en el cual los copolímeros de etileno son formados por monómeros de etileno copolimerizado con monómeros seleccionado del grupo formado por olefinas de alquilo inferior que tienen de 3 a 18 átomos de carbono, ésteres de alquilo inferior de un ácido carboxílico, el alquilo inferior con 3 a 18 átomos de carbono, y ésteres de alqueno inferior de un ácido carboxílico, el alqueno inferior con 3 a 18 átomos de carbono, el material polímerico con un índice de flujo de fusión menor de 5,0 g/10 minutos;la estrusión del material polímerico en una intubación que tiene una primera capa, con una prensa extrusora, yla exposición de la intubación a una dosis esterilizante de radicación de 15 kGy a 45 kGy.
