Abstract: PURPOSE:To obtain a rubber composition improved in dynamic storage modulus, dynamic loss factor, grip performance, etc., by incorporating specified amounts of a specified imidazole compound and a specified phenylenediamine compound in a sulfur-vulcanizable rubber composition containing a reinforcing agent. CONSTITUTION:100pts.wt. rubber (A) comprising a natural rubber and/or a synthetic rubber is mixed with 1-8pts.wt. imidazole compound (B) of formula I (wherein R1 is H, an alkyl, a cyanoalkyl or the like, R2 is H, an alkyl or an aryl, R3 and R4 are each H, an alkyl or the like), e.g., 2-methylimidazole, 2-10pts.wt. phenylenediamine compound (C) of formula II (wherein R5, R6 and R7 are each H, an alkyl, a cycloalkyl, or the like, X is an olefin, and Y is a residue of X) and, optionally, additives (D) such as a reinforcing agent and a vulcanizer (e.g., sulfur). The obtained rubber composition can be suitably used for, e.g., treads of a pneumatic tire.
